  In honor of the Cage centennial, here is my new limerick about the eccentric composer. I hope nobody gets offended;
it's all in good fun .

There was a composer named Cage,

whose music was once all the rage.

  'Twas nothing but bunk

   and it certainly stunk,

but people still thought him a sage !

;D                                                       ;D                                                   ;D                                                        ;D

My only beef with modern composers is when they try to pass off something they didn't actually compose as music. John Cage did that often, but not always. Enough for me to be very suspicious of his output, at any rate.

I have always admired John Cage.

He's a symbol of our modern age.

     Music lovers will pay

     To hear him NOT play:

Yet he keeps a straight face on the stage!

I once wrote a poem about Cage, it goes something like this...

There was a young man from Peru

Whose limericks stopped at line two.

But because he found it a bore

He decided to write to line four

I was really moved by the phrase..."3903098ewrt=49t34=049soi uas^*&^"
Well done.  ;)

Listeners of a certain age who remember the long-defunct BBC Radio 3 Christmas Quiz may recall David Owen Norris's response in the round where contestants had to compose a limerick beginning "There was a composer named N", which went as follows:

There was a composer named Glass,
There was a composer named Glass,
There was a composer,
There was a composer,
There was a composer named Glass.

Doesn't make sense?  You're absolutely daft, man; it's clear as a bell, and BRILLIANT - such fluid onomatopoetic use of the '7.'

I thought this was the thread were viciously attack Cage and degrade his music? Did I make a wrong turn?
