He began his musical studies with Nadia Chebap childhood (piano), continuing to the Music No Lic. 1 of Bucharest (1947-1953) with Filaret Barbu (theory and solfeggio), Alteuliu Pitis (piano), Nicholas Marcovici (chamber music), Viorel Cosma (music history), Emanuel Elenescu (harmony), Constantin Bobescu (chamber music ) and Cons. Bucharest (1953-1959) and Alfred Mendelsohn in Martian Negrea (composition), John D. and Victor Chirescu Iu?ceanu (theory and solfeggio), Paul Constantinescu (harmony), and Nicholas Zeno Vancea Buicliu (counterpoint), Theodor Rogalski (orchestration) Tudor Ciortea (musical forms), Marian Ion (choir, choral conducting), Silvia ?erbescu (piano), George Breazul and Radu Negreanu (music history), Tiberiu Alexandru (folklore), Ion Ghiga (orchestra), Paul Jelescu (read scores). Conservatory graduates was improved after Florica Musicescu (piano).
Assistant lecturer, lecturer and professor of piano at the Cons. Bucharest (1958-2003). He gave an intense concert activity in the country and abroad (Hungary - 1958, Poland - 1959, Czechoslovakia - 1964, Germany, Greece, USA, Ecuador, France). He participated in various conferences of musicology, master classes (piano) abroad (Greece, Poland, Ecuador). He has published articles, essays, studies in musicology RESEARCH, music, etc.. He is a member of the Composers Union (1965) and SACEM / Paris (1985).

When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

I've never heard a note of his - anyone?  Anybody?

Ahh yet another Romanian composer. This feels my heart with joy! :) (I am Romanian myself).

Unfortunately, I have not heard any of his music. I will check on youtube to see if there is anything!

I see some of his songs are by Lucian Blaga and Mihai Eminescu. Both of them are great Romantic (Romanian) poets. Mihai Eminescu in particular is Romania's greatest poet, a genius (literally), and in my opinion can easily stand toe to toe with any of Britain's/France's greatest poets! The only problem is that the language is a little more inaccessible for foreigners, which is understandable! (shame, for it really is a beautiful language!)

Here is a good translation of a very nice poem by Eminescu. I might be mistaken, but I have heard that it was written before scientific discoveries were made showing how it takes thousands of years (or more) for the light of other stars to reach our own planet "That for its light to reach our view, Has needed thousand years"
