Yes, my bad! I changed my mind about my vote while I was making it, and didn't do it properly. Good eyes!

In this situation we always use the "Work / Work / Work" part to correct the vote, so here is the correct board:

Bach: St. Matthew Passion - 4
Bach: Well Tempered Clavier - 8
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 - 1
Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 - 5
Brahms: Hungarian Dances - 1
Grieg: Peer Gynt - 1
Ravel: String Quartet - 1
Rossini: William Tell Overture - 1
Schubert: Winterreise - 2
Schumann: Kinderszenen - 1
Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture - 2

Polednice

Does that mean that the WTC is the first entry on the board now? If so, this thread has lost all potential credibility. I withhold my next vote until this dire situation is clarified. :p

Nope, nothing is final until it gets a 7 point lead.

It's going to be pretty highly recommended, if not 1 then probably 2.

Lighten up and stop being so rigid.

I have more to say:

Seems to me that you want a beginner list that pretty much looks like just about every other beginner list that's available.  Why bother if we have nothing to add except the same type of works?

Further, I'm not interested in providing a list to folks who casually enter classical music for a few listens.  My interest is a serious list for serious persons who want to dive in with some dedication.

Also, I hope you're aware that, because of the very small number of members who are participating on this thread, the entries of any one member will be all out of proportion.  It's not my fault or yours, just the way it currently stands.  So please come back with your entries. :-*

It looks like it'll be just the 3 of us for awhile; hopefully Conor71 will pop in occasionally and maybe Polednice will regain interest. But unless a few more people join within a few days, and if you two are interested, we can re-design the project to enable us to progress much faster. The +2/+1/-1 system is a good way of dealing with a situation where five or more people are voting, but with just 3 we can just make lists...

With only three participants, I don't think this thread will have any "legs".

You're right, and that appears to be our situation.

Let's suspend the project pending further interest.

If you'd like, feel free to make a list of things you'd have recommended, and we can do that just for fun.

If you're interested in a project like this, you might take a look at http://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php/topic,17151.0.html . It worked out pretty well, but without the math and squabbling ... a disappointment to some, perhaps, but a relief to most. ;)

I wish it had gone much further - at least to 500, if not 1000. And even more than that would've been great.
