I doubt that this recording was ever sold outside of Europe,  but in any case, if one of our European members, or anyone else for that matter, has it or know someone who has it that they would like to sell, I am quite interested.  :)

Drop me a PM!

That does look interesting, I haven't any idea for a source but a similar disc is at

Great; thanks for that link! I was unaware if there were any other recordings that were actually programmed mechanical clockworks, and this looks to be one. Super! :)

I was sure there would be at least one person here who would have the answer for me. :)

Now, if I can get past the differential between paying 15€ for the disk (very fair, I might add) and 19€ for the postage for it (seriously?) it shall be mine. Some things are hard to imagine. :-\

Amazon has the disc for the postage amount you quote, although it looks like you may have to wait for a few weeks for the disc to arrive.

Amazon US?  I searched it and didn't find... well, I'll try it again with different terms. Thanks, Navneeth.

I note from the description of all this that this is actually an audiobook rather than simply a CD of the music. Not sure how all that would work, since the music fills a disk pretty much, or a least an hour of it. Maybe not the music at all, but rather a book about it. If anyone can read the German text in the Austrian site sufficiently well to clarify, that would be very nice. :)

I'm confused.  The Austrian site has a button to switch to English, top right, US/UK flags.  Then in tiny print in the item description - this is still in German - it says it's an audio CD with a 20-page booklet included.  Damn, I wish I'd seen this before I went to Vienna, I might have glommed onto one for you without postage needed.  Oh well.  (PS - I see what you mean from the Amazon listings that call it an audiobook, but from the Austrian site I don't see any indication of this; maybe I don't know what an audio book is?  Isn't that where somebody reads you a novel and all you do is listen?)

Uncle Connie

Specific relevant text from the Austrian Academy of Sciences site:

Format: AudioCD mit Booklet mit 20 Seiten, OEAW PHA CD 29

Pretty straightforward description, no language barrier really ('Seiten' is 'pages').  Note inventory number is CD-29, a dead giveaway.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. I simply didn't know what to make of it, since I couldn't figure out the Austrian site and the Amazon was telling me that it wasn't really what I was looking for. I already have plenty of stuff to read about them, and don't need anyone to read it to me.  :D  If it actually is the works I want, and played on a real Flötenuhr, then Amazon is my choice, I reckon. :-\

OK, wishy-washy period over. Stuck it in the cart for acquisition at next fiscal period. Have to admit though, the picture that I originally posted is way cooler!   :)
