Still my go-to set.

The Warsaw Chopin Competition / Konkurs has just concluded, and naturally a ton of Mazurkas have been performed.

My personal favorites were Miyu Shindo's op 56 and Eric Lu's op 56 (Lu also happened to be the ultimate first prize winner).

It's streaming now - possibly the first time I've ever heard Rafal Blechacz. I think what he does is lovely actually. Dramatic.  I could enjoy the whole disc in fact, and that happens rarely.

It's the second new mazurka CD this year - the other one was Ingrid Filter - but I thought her rubato was too unnatural - I should go back to it and see if I can tolerate it better now.

I remember liking his Preludes and his Polonaises. He's also recorded the Sonatas but I skipped that--the Sonatas are, along with the Concertos, the part of Chopin's output I am least keen on.

Fliter sounds very bright and slightly hard.
