Piano Concerti

GOLD - Brahms - Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor
SILVER - Schumann - Piano Concerto in A minor
BRONZE - Saint-Saens - Piano Concerto No. 5 in F major

Repechage for 2nd bronze  :D - Grieg - Piano Concerto in A minor.

Well, the Schumann PC preceded the Grieg and there are fairly obvious similarities apart from being in A minor and ending in A major - the piano opening with a cadenza after a short beginning by the orchestra and the Landler-like 3/4 of the last part of the 3rd movement. Probably the Grieg surpassed the Schumann concerto in sheer popularity over the years but we assume this is not a contest of audience appeal as in AGT or BGT.

mc ukrneal

I had a few ideas if anyone was thinking of other 'events'...

1. Concerto that is not Piano (includes fortepiano, harpsichord, etc.), Cello or Violin
2. Musical piece related in some way to Shakespeare
3. Light Classics
4. Operetta
5. Transcriptions
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Of course, at the end we will have a tally by country. I see Germany and Russian being favorites. China should be tied with Cambodia and Haiti for last place.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.
