I have really enjoyed hearing the Dennis Brain/Mozart Horn Concerti recordings this morning.  They have a clear and happy sound!  Anyone else here visit them on occasion?

On your recommendation, I listened to all three of the Karajan and the Susskind this morning. Wonderful music!

I think I missed this thread before, but yes I agree with both of you, Brain's recording of the Horn Concerti is one of the finest traditional recordings out there of those works.

I know this version for many years, first in LP, now in CD. Brain is remarkable. One of my favorite versions, the other being the one of Civil and Marriner.

You can find Dennis Brain, perhaps even more sublime in the Horn Concertos of Strauss and the Concerto of Hindemith with Sawallisch.

His father, Aubrey Brain was also excepcional: listen his version of Brahms Trio with Adolf Busch and Rudolf Serkin.
