Here's a photo (taken in 1964) of one of my favorite big bands. It was called simply The Dance Band. It was formed by my high school band director. I'm playing tenor sax. I was 15. In the age of the Beatles we were not wildly popular  ;D  but playing hits from the Swing Era was a lot of fun. The girls on the far left were our pianist and vocalist. We seem to be seriously short in the trombone department but we had a great sax section.

the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."
