I found it better than rumor promised, FWIW.

Nor me, although my daughter is a fan.
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

+1 for Tim Dalton - I really enjoyed those films, especially, in the pre-title sequence ('The Living Daylights') where he parachutes out of an exploding vehicle on to a yacht where a glamorous woman is on the phone to her friend Margot, complaining that 'there are no real men around anymore'.

Connery remains my favourite Bond (I grew up in that era) and I like 'Thunderball' more than most, especially for Luciana Paluzzi's villainess 'Fiona Volpe'.

I've probably said this already, but for me, Dalton brought back a welcome edge to the character, which had long since been smoothed away in the Moore era. Bond and Pushkin in the hotel room where the latter says, "then I must die," is one of the great scenes in the franchise.

Quote from: Karl Henning on October 14, 2024, 04:33:28 PMWell, having wrapped up the TV show season, since @vandermolen mentioned it: into the tray goes The Living Daylights.

Great Bond, Bond Girl, and theme tune - silly but entertaining plot.

I like it. I think I might prefer it to License to Kill, which is objectively better but not nearly as fun. :)

But who am I to say? These days, I have more fun with Moonraker and Octopussy than FRWL. (even if Daniela Bianchi might be the most beautiful of all Bond Girls - well, after Sophie Marceau, anyway  8) )

Ah, give Adele a break!  They overplayed her albums here which lead to me having to take an aural break.  I do think that she's extremely talented, but that's me.

That Bond movie sounds like fun; I don't believe that I've ever seen it.

Yes, I'd recommend it K.
I'm sorry that Tim Dalton didn't make a third Bond film as originally planned.

It wasn't Pierce Brosnan's fault/doing, but out of disappointment that Dalton's tenure was so brief, I was slow to give Brosnan a chance.

I like Skyfall quite a bit, even though the screenplay has Silva having his plans laid out to impossibly accurate split-second timing. Still, I willingly suspend my disbelief. Heck, I'll cue that one up tonight. It's a while since I watched last.

Yeah, that was stupid. Also, they took the same plot twist from The Dark Knight and repurposed it for the movie... it is still my favorite from the Craig era.

The Adele song is not my favorite, but I don't see hating on it. 'oo's Paul Epworth?

I like Spectre and No Time to Die quite a bit.

But that could be a result of my big crush on Léa Seydoux  :-[

San Antone

My favorite Bond movies feature (in descending order) Connery, Brosnin, and Moore as the title character.  The other movies do not interest me.

I don't try to keep all of the films straight as far as casting goes. There are simply too many, some of which I've never even seen.

But the only Bonds for me are Connery and Craig, that much I'm sure of.

Not sure if this belongs in the James Bond thread or Film music thread but there is a new limited edition remaster of Goldfinger for its 60th anniversary.
