There're a few comments I could offer to that, especially on things to do without your clothes which so many of you here seem so innocent of, but maybe another time.

Actually I must stay off this mass-hysteria internet lunacy for a week or so and do something vaguely useful- I won't deregister but will just have to miss M's wondrous threads.
you're not deregistering?  :o
that would be like the most time you've spent on here before deregistering that i can remember- try to set another record.  ;)

Nice!  You just went up 10 more notches on my cool meter Gurn.
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

I hope so... :-\

Indeed, I hope we all do.

Of course, there is no past, no future, only now.  0:)

Thats not true. Can you read what you wrote? Happened in the past, and if thats true then the past exists. When you read this it will be the future. I live in the now, what a bunch of bs. Everyone lives in the future, hoping it will be better than now, or lives in the past remembering how good it was. No one actually lives in the now.

She looks quite different in that picture. Where in California is that?

Nope, it happened in the now.

Yes they do, they just don't know they are there. It's sad, actually.

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden...

T.S. Eliot, Burnt Norton, Four Quartets
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."
                               --Charles Bukowski, "Mahler"

Kullervo

A thread for people to post their portraits turns into an existential debate! Only on this forum.

If you truly live in the 'now' then you would have no memories or hopes just the will to survive. You might as well try to make friends with a group of chimps, defending your land from another group of chimps who try to get in good with your women.

You know...when I think about the past I rarely think it'd be cool if this happened instead...I guess that means I live in the future? I have thought I would like to start my life over with everything I have learned up to now...but thats a little different.
