Fine. At least if they take away all the guns, then the culling can begin in proper, and you can have your soviet style regime here. 60 million dead.

Meanwhile, to hark back to the OP:

snyprrr, your entire post makes very little sense. You might want to repost using logic and grammar. Note that I used statistics and reason in my original post to make my point.

[snip]

Note that people in Australia do own guns. You have to be a farmer, a professional hunter, a member of a sport shooting club etc and you have to prove your status to obtain your Firearms Licence. It is not those people that do mass shootings.

Emphasis mine.

Not taking sides here, but this, from the very selfsame article, in the viewer comments. I wish he had posted sources;

It has now been over 10 years since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The statistics for the years following the ban are now in:
1. Accidental gun deaths are 300% higher than the pre-1997 ban rate
2. The assault rate has increased 800% since 1991, and increased 200% since the 1997 gun ban.
3. Robbery and armed robbery have increase 20% from the pre-97 ban rate.
4. From immediately after the ban was instituted in 1997 through 2002, the robbery and armed robbery rate was up 200% over the pre-ban rates.
5. In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 171 percent.

Yeah, it's all bullshit. But typical of the sort of argument used by both sides in this ongoing hammer-fight (I can't use debate in this context). People are so emotional about it. There seems to be an unrelenting stream of bombast, rodomontade and just plain lying.

Paranoia runs deep
and into your mind it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
step out of line, the man come and take you away...

I have a couple of dozen guns. I'm not concerned, really.  Bring it on. However, I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories. It doesn't take a CIA to make you dead. Just one loony with suitable equipment.

8)

OK, once again. In your world, how do two things of such astronomical coincidental value happen? Ok, I'll just HAVE to admit that I live in a world where these two things can't happen without God or the CIA being involved. To me, these two things happening like this,... were it a coincidence,... it would be akin to a bird sprouting a reptilian tail,... OVERNIGHT!!

Seriously, you don't EVEN find ANY of the coincidences (Simult. Chinese/ LIBOR connections) even just the slightest bit even odd?

I know, Vincent Foster reached around and shot himself in the back,... or whoever it was ::) ::) ::)

I guess I'm thinking about the Manson thing, and how... correct me... that wasn't 'used' for any post-massacre agenda? And, how it seems that...

wait, new point...

one guy TRIES to get a shoe bomb on a plane, and all of a sudden we have a '1984' situation at the airports, buuuut, massacre after massacre (I say it in my head like Arlo Guthrie) and nothing happens?

BLANKET STATEMENT: If you live in the USA as of today, your (and mine) sanity must be held in question, if we believe what comes from our state sponsored media outlets. Fast & Furious, Bengazi,... I mean, the media's in the tank for a specific way of thinking...

oooooooo, Gurn, you don't know how mad it makes me when someone says the 'conspiracy theories',... I mean, there's not one little tiny tiny tiny little conspiracy at the bottom of the housing scandal, LIBOR, Bengazi, or any number of situations? Isn't Rahm E. involved with a conspiracy of some kind every day (I joke, but, if ever someone might be...).

And... it's not conspiracy if it's out in the open.

"You have to vote for it to know what's in it."  oh, ok master of my being who only lives to beneficently look after my poooor uneducated sheeple self.

The only way there are NOT 'conspiracies' is if most all humans have retained their capacity for critical thinking.

I was taught by the Northwoods document that the government had already in the '60s floated the idea of planes into buildings (and blaming bogeymen) for the purpose of controlling the citizenry. So, my reaction to 9/11 was, "Oh, that's today?"

Look, as far as me and 'theories',... I was, yes, I admit it, for a brief while in the early '90s, convinced that the driver shot Kennedy. OK? But, because I am a dynamic being, and keep digging and seeking and searching, I DID see that it was the sun reflecting off the man's black hair, in the shape of a barrel,... at least... in...  the... doctored Zapruder film...

And, sometimes, I wonder how they got passed the van allen belt (and other questions), but, you know, I already know there are two camps set up, both who call each other names, from which I can get information.

My bottom line is simple: most all authority figures have lied to ME (in person or TV), and PROVEN SO (Nixon anyone?), in my life, so, I feel it is my OBLIGATION to question the veracity, motive, and every other 'angle' every time United States Public Servant Authority Figures try to tell me the way it is about ANY TOPIC. You can trust them with all your heart and soul; I'll stick with my God given intuition and gut feeling and knowledge and study and confidence (which is NOT in frail man).

I pretty well lost it over the Clinton blow job,... no, you're right, there are no conspiracy theories. Everything is out in the open,... maybe this new shooter kid saw something like the clinton hypocrisy, and just said, fuck it- it's ALL a lie,... people have no soul and are just video game fodder...

I'm mean, aren't they allowed to teach in school that there is no loving God (Ultimate Authority Figure)? If God is an 'it', then, that is supplied by The State.

oh, I rant and rave,... obviously me no makey $$$ today :'( :'( :'(

I'm a natural patsy. A greenhorn. Naive as the day is long. At least, I was born that way. I would have wile-e-coyote'd myself into an early grave if I hadn't LEARNT from my naivete. I'll admit that those stats looked at BIT overblown. OBVIOUSLY we ALL know ONE THING from the last 20 years of 'conspiracy theories',... we ALL DEMAND A SOURCE!!!! Still, I just as obviously take it with a grain of salt that life after guns in Australia is as DM says (he COULD be a bolshevik,... after all!!!!!).

No link-ey, you stink-ey,... that's what 'they' say.

Pics, or it didn't happen.

One odd question: All the parents were cool with only seeing pictures of their kid? Does that sound right?

This whole event now has the aura of the holocaust: do not even attempt to ask a polite question, or point out a seemingly way out inconsistency, and your character will be assassinated on the stop. ooooo, we have a place in our jails for you, massacre denier,... bubba's gonna love you to death... yep, holocaust deniers and pedophiles, massacre questioners and people who don't recycle, YOU'RE the new terrorists!!!!!

Beware of any event that takes on immediate holocaust overtones. Immediately.

I'm the kind of guy, who, when he sees a drunk driver, passed out at the wheel and ready to kill an innocent, will swerve, turning MY car into a missile, and intercept and take OUT that drunk driver (another close death over the weekend here).

And yes, in my book, the Bush family is Progressive (as they like to say). Forward!! Hail Andrew Jackson, the Bank Killer!!!!

For what purpose?  Simple ident (God have mercy)?  That would sound right; were I one of the bereaved parents, my gut should hate, with a visceral hatred, to visit the crime scene and behold my limp child riddled with machine-gun fire.

The inconvenient truth is that more gun ownership and fewer gun control laws do not produce more murder, at least according to this Harvard study [snip]

An interesting Fact-Checking piece (not, I do not believe, directed at that study, but just on the topic under discussion) is here.
