Oh, another heavy metal hitter:

Bruckner - Symphony No. 9 Scherzo.  How could I forget that one!  Play it LOUD!!

If the 1812 Overture isn't the heavy metal of classical music, I don't know what is. Ages ago, I had a set of 8-track tapes (!) of the Greatest Hits of Classical Music, and one of the tapes was the 1812, the Flying Dutchman, Barber of Seville, Blue Danube - it was a WHOLE lot of fun to drive to.
Oh yeah! The other one I was thinking of was Beethoven's Wellington's Victory. If I had to make my own 'concert', I'd also include the Polovtsian Dances from Borodin and the Russian Sailor's Dance from Gliere at the very least!

I have the Dorati/Minneapolis 1812, which is paired with Wellington's Victory - the cannons! the bells! the muskets! Also great fun to drive to.Don't forget Liszt's Battle of the Huns!

Welcome aboard, Lisanti! I, too, am a great admirer of Prokofiev. Good to have you here.

Hmmm, let's see - Iron Maiden is my choice of the big three or four, I very much like The Sword, Tyr,, Blind Guardian, Sabaton, some Dimmu Borgir, Helloween, Avantasia, for a change of pace, A7X if you consider them metal; I had the great pleasure of seeing Alice Cooper open for Maiden this past summer, and it was an amazing show. There are more I like and have downloaded (legally!), but those are the bands for which I'll go and find the CDs. What about you? Who gets played the loudest?

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Dio, Helloween, Morbid Angel. Those are my favourites. :)

I'd add:

Stravinsky - Rites of Spring !!!
Vivaldi - Violin Concerto in G minor, Op. 8, No. 2 (Summer), Mov. 3 - Presto (obviously)
Shostakovich - Violin Concerto No. 1, Mov. 2
Shostakovich - Symphony No. 11, Mov. 2
Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries

I prefer light alloys.

Hi Lisanti,

Sergeant Rock thought maybe we were married because we're both from Jersey and joined the forum on the same day, within a few hours of each other.

We're not married...are we?

My husband would be quite suprised if we were! To quote another Jersey Joe, what's your exit?
