I tried to get some discussion going, but you politely ignored what I wrote, so naturally I removed my offending postings.

?????

...you seem to think that if you and The New Erato said similar things, in a conversation without any intervening posts on other subjects, and it happened by sheer chance that I quoted him rather than you, that I was ignoring what you wrote?

Now I really am going to call you silly. Because that is a ridiculous, childish attitude to take. If I'm writing posts, it is within the context of a thread. I can't stop you going back and deleting the relevant posts if you feel so inclined, but I feel entirely free to say that you are behaving like a child and not an adult. Wah, wah, orfeo didn't quote me while discussing Shostakovich and Holmboe so I'm going to pack up and leave.

Bye then.

And now I see you've deleted the post about deleting the posts.

Which, as it's been quoted by 3 people, achieves nothing whatsoever.

Harry: everyone was happy with your posts about Holmboe's music, even if some don't agree with your opinions, and I see no reason why you should have deleted the posts.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Understand me well, I am not expecting anyone to agree with my opinion, frankly that would be boring. But when I painted Holmboe's music as being bleak, I did not say that I dislike them. I bought the set, and knew what was coming. Many of his SQ are giving me instant pleasure, some pain me. Like Erato said, eventually I will warm to them, but they never become charmers. :)

And as a side note, I deleted the posts so as not to offend Orfeo anymore.

...because deleting them made me forget what they said??

On the contrary. All you've done is make them more significant. You've taken it from a difference of opinion about the relative emotional content of two composers, which was over and done with, and turned it into an 'incident'.

We can talk about this in PM'S, but lets not use this thread for the argument you obviously have with me. :)

No Harry, forget the PMs. You're the one who decided you had to PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE that you were deleting posts and telling me to avoid your reviews.  Leading to three people quoting you, not just me. Then to delete the post publicly announcing it.

You're right, I do have an argument with you. I have an argument with you now precisely because of those decisions. The three of us had had the discussion about how we responded to Holmboe and Shostakovich, it was over and done with as far as I could see, and then you chose to point out how you were somehow deleting posts for my sake. Is that not a blatant attempt on your part to make a big show of me being in the wrong? Of me being the bad person who 'forced' you to delete your posts to keep the peace?

If you don't want people to comment on your reviews, then bloody well stop posting links to them. Simple. Because posting links is an invitation to respond. Posting anything on this thread about what you're listening to is an invitation to respond. Don't pull stupid stunts if someone comments!!

I have no argument with you, so may I suggest to calm down.

You're really good at this passive-aggressive routine, I'll give you that.

I'm done. I've got a sudden urge to listen to Shostakovich.
