A delight.  The last time I listened to this (on vinyl) I wasn't much more than a child...
You know that Webern wrote a piece for children?

Good evening, Ilaria!
Excellent idea.  8)

Good evening, Karlo! :)
This work is splendid, actually one of my favourite Shosty's symphonies; such deep, dramatic and mesmerizing music! Jansons did a very thrilling performance.

Agreed, and it's definitely among my favourites, too. But then again, almost all of them are..

I thought that might have been by Percy Grainger*   Should read 'mer'?

Now there's an understatement!
Indeed it's a spell-binding rendition!

Not sure, I might prefer Gardiner ultimately, but they can co-exist very well as they're so different.

I liked it quite a bit, but definitely need to hear it again. Her rendition was different compared to my usual fare (Schiff), but her performance was excellent with great sound.  Hearing Bach played by different performers is like hearing a poem read by different voices.  Pires's version is likely to be retrieved from the shelves many times in the future. Great stuff! I still need to hear her rendition of Bach's keyboard concertos.

Thank you!  If Mozart makes kids smart, then if I listen to children's classical music I figure it will keep me youthful... ???

I think that CD is a good example of gilding the lilly. The tramp singing by himself is moving, just because it's so heart felt and sincere  -- I thought the rest was oily and unctuous. What Gavin Bryers, Tom Waits etc do seems to get in the way of the majesty, the dignity, of the tramp.
Yup.
