Entering the waters of Jean-Philippe Rameau's 250 anniversary with "Les Fetes d'Hebe". I now find myself in Rameau's crystalline tonal beauty thanks to Peter Power Pop's insistent and passionate posts in the French Baroque thread.

Finally listening to Karajan's 1963 Beethoven cycle. I've had it for several months, but for some reason delayed putting it on.  No complaints thus far.
It's all good...

To be honest, I long suffered from a strange Karajan antipathy. I'm not 100% sure why.  However, Ken and Moonfish nudged me (violently) in the direction of his 1960s big DG box, and of course they were quite right.  I've liked everything I've heard so far, even stuff I put on specifically because I thought I wouldn't like it (HvK epically un-HIP Baroque).
It's all good...

Another fine gift from Jeffrey, by a conductor, of which I had not a single recording.... :)

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

What do you think of it, Sadko? I quite enjoy Levinas's Beethoven (on CD and live earlier this year)...I think he is a rather astonishing musician...

This the first Levinas recording I'm hearing, and I don't find it so interesting, not bad, but not a must-have either.
