It's my pleasure, Nav. :)

I continue to listen to Webern as I rip the discs onto my computer (that sounds so harsh, "rip"). Right now I'm on Disc 4, "8 Early Lieder" sung by Christiane Oelze, Eric Schneider at piano. Just beautiful.

Lot of catching up to do.    0:)  I shall hasten unto it.  And get my subscription going again...

Meanwhile, far from hastening, I am lolling around and easily listening to a truly outstanding performance of Vaughan Williams Symphony 1 by Oramo and the BBC'ers at the Albert Hall.  Amazing.  Looks like this is going to be one hell of a BBC Proms season, with Barenboim doing the first complete Ring Cycle ever in the Proms with the Staatskapelle Dresden.

Scots John is back.  That is an occasion for celebration!

Make haste the the Schoenberg threads.  Admiration for Schoenberg has been reaching a level which is quite outrageous!   :o  ;D :D ;D

Thank you all for the welcome backs.  I must now check this fabled inbox which I am told is full, and no wonder as I let my wee subscription lapse also.   :-[  Never mind.  Toodle Pip and all that.  Tally Ho.  This kind of thing...

THREAD DUTY:

Recording from 13/02/2013
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Symphony in G minor, K. 183
Hans Rott
Symphony in E flat major
Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: Marc Minkowski

Aye, Hans was performed earlier this year by the FRSO with Minkowski.  It is, but not by a long way, one of the best captured Live performances I've heard of Rotts great big wee symphony.  ***swoons***

Huzzah!  and quite by serendipity, given your first post this evening,  RVW's First Symphony, albeit not in a performance hot off the airwaves--being Sir Adrian with the LPO. (Starting a run through of his RVW cycle now.)

Really? I'm amazed at that, concert performances of all ten Ring acts you say? In the grotesque philistine capital of the entire world? Someone's going to get the boot when the place is half empty night after night- sounds like London arts commercial mismanagement rather than any remote commitment to values. However perhaps the real reason is to put a suicidal end to the Prom concerts altogether- they just don't fit in the world any more.

Listening to Schumann's Piano Concerto. Incredible performance from Fleischer/Szell. Absolutely gorgeous from start to finish.

An awesome set with 4 discs filled with the finest early Italian organ music, in a superbly vivid interpretation and - something I usually don't comment on - recorded in expectational high quality, a DIVOX trait BTW.

It has been too long that I visited it - it was on my shortlist of last year's purchase. My only regret is that Harry, who was quite taken by it as well, is no longer around to endorse it...
