Bach, JS - Cello Suites w/ Hopkinson Smith on theorbo (his transcriptions) - using Spotify on my iPad plugged into the den stereo - close miking - I can hear his fingering occasionally but there is also some minor intermittent distortion which I'm assuming is the wireless Spotify connection (not sure the 'quality' of their offerings) - just curious for those who may own these Naive discs and/or downloads, any such distortion issues?  Thanks - Dave :)

Love those recordings.

Another cd with fetching artwork! Ernst Ludwig Kirchner: Forest Landscape with Stream 1925/26. I had to buy this! ::) ;D I like the performance, though;and great sound quality. Klemperer or Abravanel next? It's been Mahler's Seventh for the last couple of hours! And,yes, that Machaut cd is sensational! I think I might have to play it if you keep putting it up!! ;D

Me too.

Me three  :)

I also feel a bit ambiguous concerning Graindelavoix for the same reason.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Something small scale before hearing the Turangalila in concert tonight.
The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

Propaganda death ensemble - Tom Araya

Kontrapunctus

This is the best played and recorded version that I have heard.

It is essentially the same conception.

One of many Webern pieces I've been obsessed with over the past few months. In the last three days before making that thread, I've listened to it at least ten times  ;D

I first had the Boulez Op. 1-31 set on Sony but have come to believe that the DG complete set is the one to listen to.

That's interesting. Initially I was indifferent to the Symphony. Then one day, something clicked, and I just had to listen to it every day for a week.

I have 2 recordings: Boulez/Sony and Sinopoli.

I have had only limited success in getting into Bax, but I like very much what I hear here:

Fine sound and performance, and interesting music well written for the piano (I'm no pianist though).
Would probably never have bought it unless jpc had it extremely cheap some time ago. Serendipity!
