I strongly suspect I got that from Tully Potter's liner notes.

In this box??

Because I own an older release of the Brandenburgs and suites.

Film opera on Rimsky Korsakov, The Tsar bride

Most of the roles (but not all) are doubled actor/singer

[asin]B000Q66PY8[/asin]

Great actors, sets, costumes, chorus.  The cinematography is fantastic.  Direction: Yevgeny Svetlanov, bolshoi opera orchestra.
Only the mono sound leaves to be desired.

Gripping film-opera.  A masterpiece.

Decided to give the Kaiser a listen, too.
This must have been my first very own Beethoven vinyl purchase, with Hungarian/American pianist Andor Földes as soloist:

Haven't heard Foldes in this yet.  I've bookmarked the YouTube link for a later listen.  Thanks for the tip.

Originally issued in 1959 (with Sonata opus 79), there was a Deutsche Grammophon CD reissue, mid-way the 1980s IIRC, but that's gone OOP since long.
Later, it was licensed by Hungaroton (together with Pc 1/BambergerS/Leitner), but I doubt if that one is still available.
Apart from that: the sound quality of the YouTube clip is good enough for a pleasant listen.

I concur. Do you have his set of complete Beethoven Sonatas? It is superb, too.

Yes.  It's one of the best of the century so far.

Some Schumann from the early 90s from Alexander Lonquich.  He almost makes me really like Faschingsschwank aus Wien, which is hard to do.  The other works are superbly played.  Maybe Warner will see fit to release all his EMI recordings, though I won't hold my breath.

Sonatas 5-10 today. While I might prefer certain passages played by other pianists, such as Horowitz, Ashkenazy, or Richter, this is certainly a satisfying set of Sonatas. Now onto to Preludes!

A new acquisition. From the Rozhdestvensky Shostakovich box. Listening to Symphony No. 11 in G minor, Op. 103, "The Year 1905". Such an intense performance and much better than many other performances I've heard of this symphony.
