Another great purchase in 2016!  :)

Though not listed as a favourite in a (futile? ;)) attempt to restrict myself...

It has become a bit if a personal tradition to play this on New Year's Day:

BTW Good news for lovers of historical recordings and the defunct Pearl label: British Heritage Records has licensed the back catalogue and has started reissuing.
I have immediately put the 1st reissue on my shopping list:

Now playing:

Händel's "Alcina" - which I'll catch live this week with Bartoli and Jaroussky - hooray!

Machaut : Messe de Nostre Dame
Rebecca Stewart, Schola Machaut

My second listen to this live recording.  It would be very good if Stewart and her group could get this performance recorded under proper conditions.  Once one gets used to the sinewy/bellows inflected style of singing the music comes across in a spiritual and expressive manner.  Pace might be a little lax.

Like it quite a bit. Though it is the kind of composition, without strong lines, that require a bit of immersion in its "place" I think.

An issue on CD-R would indeed be a dissapointment....  Thanks for the warning!
I missed that - do you remember where you read that? Or are you speaking from your own experience?  :)
