Delius everyday Karl.

Last time I had root canal it was painless.  This is a real b****

Took a break from Delius to listen to Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 from a variety of recordings.  I'm not generally a big Mendelssohn fan, but this work has me totally hooked.  Or, it might be that going from Delius to Mendelssohn just represents a major upgrade.  Whatever, I think that I'm done with Delius for a few years but am continuing on with Mendelssohn's chamber works.

Hi Don - I have a bunch of Mendelssohn's chamber works - will look forward to your thoughts on specific recordings - Dave :)

Fibich, Zdenek (1850-1900) - new composer to me, and kind of the 'forgotten' Czech - he was discussed not too long ago in one or several threads, so added him to my 'wish list' - just received the two discs below - first listenings - quite excellent - may need to try his Symphonies next? :)

Fibich is great. Mostly known here as a composer of operas (with a strong Wagnerian influence) and melodramas.
His most famous piece is Poem (from At Twilight, Idyll), which is unfortunately being rather overused as funeral music.  ::)

Cato reminds me that I have this Tcherepnin CD buried in the shelves, unheard for many years. Listening to Symphony #1 E major, with its intriguing percussion only scherzo.
