The new erato

This is a highly debatable thought. It assumes, I guess, for instance, "the banality of evil".
Fan of David Sylvian?

I will go in more detail later, but I can already tell Harry that he can safely leave this little Italian Baroque jewel on his wish list... :)

From the Staier DHM box.  Did Ken B. recommend that first?  Anyway, as good as I had hoped it would be--no, much better. How could I have imagined how good all this is?

[asin]B000001TYR[/asin]

An Amazon reviewer rips this disc, saying Staier misunderstands Dussek's notation and pounds too much on the keys. He's probably right, but it's still wonderful.

I did recommend that. I've been pushing HIP stuff on you for a while!   8)

Yeah, you have, but you didn't have to push too hard, I've always been that way inclined--but without knowing what the hell I was doing.  Who was it who said "He who is self-educated has a fool for a teacher" ;D  I had some stuff I liked from Hogwood, Pinnock, and the Tallis scholars 7 or 8 years ago, but I had no idea what else was out there. Anyway, thanks for the help :)

Which item from that box? :)

Interesting to hear the Windsor Castle organ. Pretty good performances. I love how the booklet describes the tune incorporated by Reger in Siegesfeier as 'Haydn's great tune from the Emperor Quartet'. Uhm, yes, that's where it comes from originally, of  course, but Reger in his premature celebration of the WW I victory was probably thinking of another version.  :)

Hey, Que, look at this!  ;D

Yes, when listening to this for the first time two days ago, I also thought of Que.

The playing is state of the art, and the newly built organ seems to have taken its model - as to sound - from the Scherer organ in Tangermünde. And what a beautiful neo-North German prospect.

Scarlatti "Dixit Dominus" and Magnificat.  I tried to show the image, but it came up blank for some reason, so I had to show the whole box. The performances are wonderful, but so is the sound.
It's all good...
