I have had these 5 Northern Flowers volumes for so a long time in my wish list that probably it's the time to do something about.  :)

+1  :)
Excellent disc.

It certainly is which is why I have slowly savoured it over the three relevant days  :)

Quote from: SonicMan46 on April 04, 2015, 08:04:36 AMThat Easter Cantana on HM with Herreweghe is my all time favorite. I don't know why but he gets Bach's choral music just right for me.
In honor of Easter, some Baroque choral works - two that I found quickly - know that I've got some more?  Dave

Bach, JS - Easter Oratorium w/ Herreweghe, Collegium Vocale, & vocalists listed on the cover art - boy, I've had this one for a long time (recorded in 1994).

Pachelbel, Johann - Easter Cantatas w/ Roland Wilson & La Capella Ducale and Musica Fiata - :)

Georg Böhm (1661-1733): Praeludium g-moll & Chaconne G-Dur.

Stef Tuinstra, playing a harpsichord built by Christian Zell(1728), Musuem für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg, Germany.
Just great.

Recorded in 1984 and now known as Herrewegue 1.  :D

A wonderful performance, where not even Jacobs is a problem.

Ha!

Old tradition reviving in my own cd-player ... long time ago, on Easter Sunday night, the Dutch radio broadcasted at 0:00 hours exactly the Hallelujah Chorus from Händel's Messiah!

Listening to Masaaki Suzuki's crew right now!

Happy Easter everyone!

Add this: Bach's magnificent Cantata BWV 4 Christ lag in Todes Banden, also performed by the Bach Collegium Japan.

I agree that this is a great performance. But every time I listen to it, I regret that Tuinstra did not record the g-minor, which in my opinion is a work intended for organ, on the organ. Similarly with Stella. Well, Leonhardt and Alessandrini also thought of it as a harpsichord work. Sigh.

Tuinstra, cd2, track 12?

Happy Easter, Premont!

No, CD 3 track 17.

But thanks for reminding me, that he recorded it twice, on the organ as well as on the harpsichord.
For some reason, this hadn´t settled in my mind.  :-[

Happy Easter Marc. hope you celebrate Easter with the corresponding passion  ;)

I so admire Suzanne Farrell as a dancer. Here she is in Apollo together with Peter Martins [choreography: Balanchine].

From my recent BRO order, 'fillers' so not knowing what to expect but was pleasantly surprised, i.e. composers known to me but in works that I've not heard (Busoni) and in a trio unknown to me (George Sand Trio):

Busoni, Ferruccio - Cello & Piano Works w/ Paccagnella (cello) & Alberti (piano) - chamber works w/ several transcriptions (Bach & Liszt) - cannot find reviews; there is a Naxos recording of much of the same - but enjoyable w/ good Tactus sound - if you want something besides his piano concerto, then consider his chamber works - need to do a few more listens.

Ravel, Bonis, & Faure - Piano Trios w/ the Trio George Sand - on the wonderful ZigZag label - I already have recordings of the Ravel & Faure works and several discs of compositions by 'Mel' Bonis (a lady) - this is a beautiful disc & well recorded - this group is excellent.  Dave :)
