The whole last week I´ve been listening alternatively to these two sets:

My reaction each time I hear this music (in whatever performance) is the same as it was when I listened to it for the first time: *this is the most melancholy beautiful music I have ever heard.*

Jed Distler really enjoyed this, so I'll give it a try. George Emmanuel Lazaridis plays three of my favorite Schubert solo piano works.

This was totally terrific Schubert. Great light touch; the pianist sounds like he'd be very good in Debussy or late Brahms. Lazaridis is another pianist to watch.

Gosh, another D 960 I must hear... Should I thank you or hate you?  ;D ;D ;D

You should do the thanking and your wallet/subscription queue should do the hating!

Haven't heard enough yet to form even a general opinion.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Okay, then how do you like that performance of the 4th you just listened to?

André

Prokofieff: Romeo and Juliet, extracts (75 minutes) by Charles Dutoit and the Montreal Symphony (Decca). Superlative.

Bruckner: Symphony no 8. Last week with the Hamburg (NDR) Radio symphony from 1955, today from the Muskverein in Vienna (WP of course) from November 1961 sessions. Superlative too.

Great music and performances; maybe my favorite interpretation of the piano trios on modern instruments.  :)

This Vermeer cycle is one I like a lot. It seemed to fly under the radar. Too bad.
