Berlioz. He's always good.

I think my current focus on Liszt has raised Berlioz's stock, IMO - I watched some of Damnation of Faust on medici.tv and was thoroughly engaged.  I should sit down with his music once my Liszt marathon is finished.

Very appealing music from an able but conservative master

Wasn't able to partake in the Nielsen birthday celebrations (due to other listening obligations), but now I'm celebrating rather belatedly with this:

Listening to Saga-Drøm. Such a great work and performance.

Today, I keep alternating between two works.

Haydn's Symphony No.82 in C - I really enjoy this recording, even though I know some people around here don't.

and Holmboe's Concerto No.6 (for violin) - well, this is the only recording, so have it for the music!

Yup! One was the other's favourite composer.

Ooh. First ever listen to this composer. And I'm intrigued. There are hints of the aesthetics of minimalism, but with far more immediate interest to my ears.

EDIT: Sufficiently good I've listened to it twice in a row. I really, really like this.

Enjoyed the Krenek, but I'm surprised Ken likes it. Reminds me of Schoenberg a lot. Currently, Philip Glass Symphony No. 4. I've been meaning to hear some Glass again for awhile.
