Anthea Grasselli plays on 4 historic organs of the Italian Marche region (middle Italy, on the Adriatic coast) music of an array of Italian composers. The authentic charm of the organs is frankly irresistible. :) Naturally the liner notes with this disk on the tiny label Discantica, run by the Milanese Clasical Music  shop La Bottega Discantica ( www.discantica.com ) are in Italian only..... But never mind... 8)
My only hope is that this series on historical organs in various regions of Italy doesn't become an addiction (I now have 2 issues out of at least 7), volumes are scarce and expensive...

Vivaldi: Cello Concerto RV399....

An all Schumann programme, including a rarity, the Andante and Variations for two pianos, two cellos and horn.

These are live performances and the recording quality is not great. There also the occasional fluffs, but, for such wonderful, spontaneous music making, they are entirely forgivable.

A fantastic disc.

I has been a while since I listened to this collection of early 17th century Italian violin music, but it suddenly came to me to put this on. :)
Enrico Onofri is one of the Baroque violinists that I greatly admire.

An "urgent" recommendation in an elaborate FANFARE review HERE.

Johan van Veen's review can be read HERE.

Ligeti's Piano Concerto. For a composer who marked everything so precisely, it's surprising how far this performance is from the two I have (Teldec and DG, can't remember performers right now)—less joie de vivre, more gentle irony. Worth hearing, though.

Sounds good so far, though I'm reserving judgment.

Seconded!
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Time to brighten up a dull Saturday afternoon. I've always enjoyed Plasson's versions of the Offenbach operettas, and this recording of Orphee aux Enfers is no exception. Mady Mesple is a delectable Eurydice, with Michel Senechal excellent as Orphee, and what a joy to hear French singers singing clear and comprehensible French.
