I actually listen to Игорь Фëдорович:

nor in competing for the favor of wayward friends.
His only competition was with himself. — Françoise Gilot

Oh dear, I thought that I was finished collecting Brandenburgs.......

I never was finished collecting recordings of these concertos.

BTW: What is the music on your avatar?
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

San Antone

Brahms: Sonatas for Cello & Piano Four Serious Songs

Cello Sonata No. 1 In E Minor, Op. 38
Cello Sonata No. 2 in F major, Op. 99
Vier ernste Gesänge, Op. 121 (transc. Safran/Baillie)

Alexander Baillie (cello) & John Thwaites (piano)

The new erato

This is quite good:

Amazing how many good piano quintets that were written in France.

Mahlerian

Schoenberg: Violin Concerto op. 36, Pelleas und Melisande op. 5
Kolka Blacher, Gurzenich Orchestra Koln, cond. Stenz

Stenz and his orchestra outperform Salonen and the Swedish Radio Symphony in the Violin Concerto, and while Blacher lacks the laser precision of Hilary Hahn, he has a full tone that gives a very romantic cast to the whole work.  A fine Pelleas, too.

Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F, No. 7 in F
Alban Berg Quartet
"l do not consider my music as atonal, but rather as non-tonal. I feel the unity of all keys. Atonal music by modern composers admits of no key at all, no feeling of any definite center." - Arnold Schoenberg

Maybe it became too sticky. :P

I love much of Walton's orchestral works, but got to his symphonies toward the end of that exploration. I opted for a more recent recording and Brabbins (and orchestra) seems to have the measure of the music. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I noticed this but decided to wait and see how long it would last.

By the way, Finzi's "Intimations of Immortality" really was a terrific piece of music - far better than I expected from the title. Reminded me a bit in structure of an English "Lyric Symphony".

No real need anyway - it will always stay on top.

First listen to Luigi Dallapiccola's Preghiere, sung by baritone Mario Basiola, with the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice conducted by Hermann Scherchen (live, 1964). From this long OOP CD:

Followed by CD 1 of this:

[asin]B001FA32F4[/asin]

Paul Sacher conducting a varied Stravinsky program (Monumentum pro Gesualdo da Venosa, Abraham and Isaac, A Sermon, a Narrative and a Prayer, and the Symphony in Three Movements).

Yes, I too actually listen to Stravinsky!  :)

Mozart: Piano Quartet K493 [Sonnerie]....

A simply sparkling performance.
