Andras Schiff's new Schubert release inspired me to program my own little Shubertiade.  I figured I might as well throw in a few other items for fun.  (The two new Pictures will be compared to Maurizio Balini's recording.)

It would be interesting to read your thoughts on those Schubert disks as you listen to them and especially on David Fray.

Bought these two tonight:

The Volmer Sibelius set marks my 25th cycle of these truly extraordinary symphonies. This Madetoja recording has been flying under my radar for quite some time, so decided to finally pull the trigger. I would like to own the rest of Volmer's Madetoja series as well, but maybe another time.

No more Concertgebouw anthologies? I despair of ever finding volume 3...
They still had several copies of volumes 4 and 6, at 20€ each. I bought volumes 2, 4 and 6 at that price several months ago--they also had the Mengelberg and van Beineum boxes at that same price at the time. I was foolhardy enough to tell my Spanish friends about it, and came back to Madrid with 12 boxes in total (240 CDs)--I felt like some sort of smuggler  :D

But no, vol. 3 is not in stock  >:(...I too am looking for it desperately (it inculdes Boulez conducting Nono's Il Canto sospeso)...

Awesome! Great stuff. I love Grieg's later works. The Roussel is almost self-recommending. It's that good.

Gettin' me some of that old time religion: John Adams piano music from before he lost his mojo.
Florestan can have his romanticism, Gurn his classicism, Ken B be a minimalist!

Pretty much indispensable if you are even remotely interested in the Ring Cycle. The written by John Culshaw makes a mandatory companionship to this video.
