:D I love everything about Nielsen. Everything. He's one of the few composers that I feel a true kinship with. I love each symphony. Each time I hear a Nielsen symphony, I think that the one I'm currently listening to is my favorite, but then I hear the next one. ;) His concerti, miscellaneous orchestral works, and chamber works are also well-worth investigating. Have you explored his oeuvre in-depth, Greg?

Only symphonies and concertos. I do have a string quartet by Emerson Q.

You never heard the Wind Quintet, Pan & Syrinx, Saga-Drøm or An Imaginary Trip to the Faroe Islands just to name a few amazing works? Oh boy!!!! You're in for quite a treat, Greg!

Duo for Piano 4 hands no 2 in F minor, Op. 22 by Georges Onslow
Richard Boldrey, Elizabeth Buccheri
I have that one. it's enjoyable, though not my favorite for romantic music.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

After nearly four decades of dithering I finally bought

B00004YZ36

A strong emotional appeal, but I wonder how it measures up really. Only one way to find out! I came within inches of buying that 30 years ago on vinyl for $86.

More Early 20th Century Swedish music on the way:

It was a long time ago that I ordered the complete MDG catalogue, but clearly I missed a few, and secondly I bought some new releases in this fantastic MDG sale. This label is not often priced down, mind, so order quickly, for I know there will be a big run on all items.

Some additional MDG orders, I overlooked somehow.

Hi Harry - quite an MDG haul w/ your two posts - a number of those CDs look familiar to me, but others are worthy of consideration - will make a closer perusal - thanks.  Dave :)

SonicMan46

Well in looking over Harry's postings on his recent MDG purchases (a favorite label of mine), I visited JPC to see if the 'bargains' might be there, and indeed there were a bunch on SALE along w/ others - I added 4 or so from his list but had to justify the 13 Euros shipping across the pond (and the Euro is now just $1.10, so good time to shop!) - thought that a round dozen would be nice and got mid-way through the alphabet when I reached that number - purchases shown below - total was 86 Euros + the 13 for S/H - about $9 a disc.  Dave :)

Bach, J.Christian - Wind Symphonies w/ Consortium Classicum
Bertali, Antonio - Sonatas w/ Letzbor & Ars Antiqua Austria
Bertali, Antonio - Festive Sonatas w/ Wilson & Musica Fiata
Ditters, Karl - String Quartets Nos.1,4,5 w/ Sharon Quartet
Gade, Niels - Piano Trios w/ Trio Parnassus
Glazunov, Alexander - String Quartets Vol. 1 w/ Utrecht SQ
Glazunov, Alexander - String Quartets Vol. 2 w/ Utrecht SQ
Glazunov, Alexander - String Quartets Vol. 3 w/ Utrecht SQ
Hoffmeister, Franz - Viola Concertos w/ Pillai & Hogwood
Kozeluch, Leoplod - Piano Concertos Nos.1,4,5 w/ Dratva & Dohnanyi
Kreutzer, Rodolphe - Violin Concertos Nos.15,18,19. w/ Breuninger/Francis
Scheidermann, Heinrich - Organ Works w/ Leo van Doeselaar

I got the JC Bach "wind symphonies" with an earlier cover a few months ago. It's well played but I am afraid I was slightly dissapointed by the music.
MDG also has a disc with quintets by JC Bach for flute, oboe and strings which are very charming. I can recommend this one.
