Correct-a-mundo, John.  It sounds that like you, I also tend to stay away from partial snips of film scores.  However, these were so stinking well done, I made the rare exception and have four on the shelf with more on the to buy list.

Very nice, Bill. I'll definitely consider these after I've heard the complete Adventures of Robin Hood and The Sea Hawk. ;)

They really are well done. I have about 5-6 and they are all top notch.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Unfortunately, those Gerhardt recordings are only selections from the films correct?

Hi John - well, not unfortunate if one just wants some highlights, but you'll right, one selection from 12 different films as shown in the attachment - I own about 8 of those films as commercial DVDs or burned DVD-Rs, so would rather watch the movies; of course, the sound, especially on those DVD-Rs is rather poor and would require a good blu-ray restoration for improvement.  Thanks for showing those other Korngold CDs - must check my current collection of about a half dozen and add some more - looking forward to your comments.  Dave :)

P.S. I do have The Adventures of Robin Hood on blu-ray and the sound is outstanding - wish that Captain Blood & The Sea Hawk were similarly restored - :(

Like Bill said, I'm not one for 'selections' of anything really, especially if you can actually get a recording of the complete work, but, if only selections were what is available, then I'll happily live with it (while complaining under my breath). ;) Anyway, I will comment as soon I've digested these recordings.

Do you have a local shop where they can polish it out on a machine?  This usually (but not always) fixes my skipping discs.
Wouldn't know, not many shops left .... it's packed for return to aIT, hopefully the replacement set will be okay (and hopefully they'll reimburse my shipping costs, too, but I guess I got to beg for that after the fact ... seems they even stopped the "write us in english" service they used to offer, and they have quite well hidden the option to contact them at all, anyway ...)

Well, I just ordered two Korngold CDs from Amazon MP, the one above (went w/ a 'used' copy out of your state - the only 'new' one I could find was on the MP for over $20 once S/H was added) and the other inserted - the one review I saw (and posted in the Korngold thread) was a little hesitant but I'll take a chance - Dave :)

Very nice, Dave. Let me know what you think of that Marco Polo recording.

I think discplus' crazy international shipping costs and the expensive Swiss frank must have done them in.... ::)

I am still browsing through their stock, looking for some items cheap or rare enough to justify the added costs.... 8)

meanwhile I placed a small order at jpc.de:

You already know that this will be excellent. :)

Buying discs from Italian (?) labels like Stradivarius, Dynamic is always a gamble. They have some excellent stuff, but they are the kind of labels where I never buy blindly.

I enjoy those Herreweghe Bach 3CD sets a lot! They were SDCD bargain at discplus in the past years (some 8-9 Euros, I guess) ... and they're nicely presented, too, with full blookets and all.
