Following erato's lead and bought some Bacewicz recordings that were missing from my current rather small collection of her music:

And I preordered this in June:

All three seem delectable and excellent additions - to my wishlist, for now..... :D

Just bought:

Having owned the remastered 'Red Library' version of this recording for years and loving the performances, the collector inside of me wanted to own the original release of this remarkable recording. What Tilson Thomas achieves here isn't the sheer vehemence that Bernstein seemed to be able to capture in Copland, but MTT's interpretations offer a more atmospheric, expansive view of these works. Billy the Kid never has sounded better IMHO. The whole musical landscape really seems to be painted with elegant brushstrokes rather than abrasive ones. Point being, there's room for more than one kind of interpretation in these masterpieces.

Grazyna Bacewicz:

I didn't buy it. It's been offered to me years ago by a most esteemed Moderator from its originating country. Very good, but not more thant that. It sounds to me like the composer had decided once and for all that manners musical must be obeyed to.

Becewicz's did seem to get rather generic sounding in her later music to my ears, but I really like her Symphony No. 3, though mine is a different recording on Koch:

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural

The new erato

Stephen Midgley has a very fine review on Amazon, he tends to know his stuff.

Isaac is a very good, though hardly first-rank, composer I feel, but need to be recorded more, so I tend to support initiatives in that direction.

Midgley's comment along the lines that  it's impersonal as music or performance seems unfair to me.

There's another recording of this mass you know, from a Munich choir - bigger forces and instruments - also interesting to hear.

I think it's available both on Gimell and Christophorus(probably the one you are thinking of). I cannot for the life of me remember where, but I think I read a review very favorable to the performance somewhere.

Oooh, I have to get that! Samples on the label site sound very nice:

I see there is also Ensemble Gilles Binchois recording of Vellard's own compositions. That could be interesting as well:

10-discs set. A great composer.

Pisaroni (Figaro) is the son-in-law of Hampson (the Count). Interesting!

I thought that I already had this recording in my collection. Not so, and I had to remedy that quickly.
