The number of physical copies was too small because so much demand still remains unsatisfied. The label could have potentially profited more money had they released more copies. This austerity is quite unnecessory don't you think?

Maybe it is not austerity.  Maybe there are warehousing concerns.

Thanks to some jpc.de advices of Harry (AKA Harry's corner) I ordered this disc today... and looking forward to it:

I just felt like my SQ collection was unbearably thin...
Those are quite recent.

Did you pay more than I did for that CD or why are you so bitter?  ::)

I don't have this recording, nor do I want it.

What I pointed out to you is that you followed up on a recommendation that you blamed your fellow GMGers for even mentioning.
Which was bitter...and petty...

Perhaps this does ring a belll?  ::)

All I ask is you don't blame me for listening to Naxos discs. It's because I haven't won in lottery. So, please don't ruin the Naxos experience for me. I just paid 15 € for a Mirare disc so I am trying! What is the point of recommending OOP discs? Recommend something that is available!
Yes. I'll wait.

Why on earth do follow up on recommendations you don't want to hear? ;)

That was in the past. What use is there is rehashing negative past interactions?

Well, at least you don't have a problem of it being an OOP disc then.  ;)

I don't blame GMGers mentioning CDs. I blame ridiculous prices. I am interested about it because so many says it's brilliant. Also, I want more performances of BWV 1079 because it's one of my favorite works by Bach.

But I want to hear it! Thanks to my initial rant I was told about camelcamelcamel which has now made it possible for me to get this OOP CD.  :)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Excellent choice.
I have every single recording by the Jerusalem Quartet, and they are all high quality performances, even when they were in their days as a fresh new group.

I am happy to have been helpful to you in finding a recording you wanted and at a price you found acceptable.

;)
Yes, you have been very helpful! Thank you!  :)

This opens whole new possibilities for me to purchase OOP material and other normally pricy CDs.

It is not that bad. Well, it is special but certainly not bad. It would never become my first choice, but I consider it a colourful addition to the more traditionally scored renderings.

Absolutely; I've been following them for a dozen years, at least,

Shostakovich Travels through Jerusalem

Dip Your Ears, No. 80 (Jerusalem DSCH)

Jerusalem Quartet, JCCGW

The Jerusalem Quartet at the Libr

I found the recent Bartok disc, on one-time listening, a little bit too civilized, too polite, too refined, actually. Perhaps I need something a little cruder to really grab me by the
lapels.

Thanks a lot for your feedbacks.  Now I really cant wait for them to arrive here.  Initially, I was looking for a different approach than the austrian/east european approach to Beethoven quartets.
When I moved back to europe, I got rid of my Bartok SQ (Budapest) and believe it or not hadnt replaced them yet !!!

ComposerOfAvantGarde

Cuarteto Casals have recorded an excellent 4th string quartet from Bartók. For me, that recording is unsurpassed (and definitely grabs me by the lapels). The only shame is that I don't think they have recorded any of the other quartets!

I initially bought the Collector's Edition of this set many moons ago, but the seller canceled on me, but then this set came out and it's remastered, so I figured why not try again? 8)

I know that the artistic quality of the set is excellent, that's not an issue. I have many other sets already, but if the audio is really better I might consider this set too. So keep me/us posted of your listening sessions.

Will do, Harry. One thing I found particularly attractive about this newly issued set is it contains the following (from Amazon):

Packaging:

One hardback book presenting 9 CDs in the original iconic Brueghel covers

A second hardback book, with artist photos, an introduction by musicologist Andrew Stewart, repertoire notes by Jan Smaczny and recollections of the recording sessions by producer Ray Minshall, all in English, French and German, coupled with the Blu-ray disc

Both hardback books are presented in a slipcase with the original Brueghel cover art.

Yes for this alone one should have this set! 8)

Indeed. I'll try to take some photos of the both hardback books for you and everyone else to see.
