My monthly load:

[asin]B01MTBYWFK[/asin]
(New release - Paul McCreesh's massive-band, English-language-but-heavily-edited Haydn's Seasons)

[asin]B007WB5DIO[/asin]
[asin]B00B5UBH24[/asin]
[asin]B01N29D08W[/asin]
[asin]B01N5LVNG2[/asin]
[asin]B003VKW14Y[/asin]

The McCreesh is the one I really wanted this month; the rest are massively discounted shelf-fillers I could have lived without, although I might collect the future Kozeluch volumes if I like the first.

(This doesn't seem to be showing up. It is Paul McCreesh's new massive-band English-language-but-heavily-edited Haydn's Seasons)

You need to use the ASIN from the disc, not the mp3/download. Then it works like a charm! And welcome to the forum! Nice haul.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Ah, thank you for the tip (I have fixed it) and for the welcome!

Welcome to the forum, Syek88:)

Thanks for the McCreesh description.

Never waste a good reason for a purchase....  ;)

Yes, thanks for the news. I wasn't aware of that release. Please post your thoughts ans impressions.

I have that team's Berlioz Requiem and it blows the bejeezus out of the competition. I also have their Haydn Creation. Can't say I recall it that much. I'll relisten to it this weekend. I'm more of a Creation man than a Man for All Seasons  ;D

I think McCreesh's Creation is among the best available.

The Buck was ordered on a speculative whim. The rest are new or newish (2017) releases.  The Nott is a sort of supplement to his excellent set of symphonies, done properly with two singers.

Let me know what you think of the Mahler Das Lied von der Erde from Nott, Jeffrey. Hurwitz didn't think too much of it.

Well, I thought better of the cycle than he did (what he wrote about it).

Amazon has occasional short lived price-dips on expensive CDs.  I just snatched those last week

Very nice looking purchases, king ubu;)

I have those Pygmalion Bach mini-masses and they are wonderful!

That Guy/Homburger looks really interesting.

Enjoy!  :)

The Guy/Homburger was a by-product of the Biber purchases ... it opens with the "Annunciation" from the Rosary sonatas - and actually one would really wish the two would do a scaled down violin/double bass version of the entire cycle! The rest is dedicated to Guy's music, in which I've long been very interested, though more from a jazz perspective. I have seen Homburger (and a few other classical musicians) perform either with Guy's New Orchestra (an extremely powerful mid-sized jazz ensemble) or being fully integrated in the latest larger group he leads, the Blue Shroud Band, where some bits by Bach and Biber have been integrated (the Intakt disc is recommended to anyone into contemporary/adventurous jazz and improvisation ... actually only when I saw Gardiner and his forces play the Zurich Tonhalle, I realized that the sax player with Blue Shroud that doubled on oboe was actually another musician at home in both camps ... Fanny Paccoud on viola is with that Guy band as well, I have her on some HIP releases).

And I'll go back there to get more of the Blomsted Bruckners on Querstand - nos. 5-7 have been recommended, hope they still have these!

Excellent!  Thanks for the report.

Those Queerstand Bruckners look enticing, no doubt about it!  :)

Ah, funny you mention these; I could use your help, King Ubu!
Can you get me the recording dates (earliest and last; more precisely even earliest SONATA and last SONATA) from that set? I think 12 volumes is the extent of it, yes?
2004-2011???
As a bonus: Which instruments does he use?

Any info would be much appreciated,

Jens

The new erato

#16955
Some new releases ordered from mdt:

[asin]B01N1V3Y0C[/asin]
Late Pettersson is a tough nut, I couldn't make heads or tails of no 13, but liked no 16, so here goes, the series is ousttanding as far as recording and playing goes.
[asin]B01G2FHUCW[/asin]
Finally some Palestrina with a small ensemble! Only 103 more masses to go!
[asin]B01M2CN7SF[/asin]
Their recent 3 CD set with various works was very impressive, so why not collect some quite rare Beethoven odds and ends in modern sound?

Hi Jens

I need to locate Vols. 1/2 and 12 (the ones I already had, earliest and latest ones) if you need details, but if years are good enough, it's 2004-2009 (years of recording, not of release!). He plays a variety of instruments: harpsichord, fortepiano, clavichord ...  I can provide a list (but typing which instrument he uses on what work would take me half a day I think, as the series includes a ton of miniature pieces usually omitted).
