Yes yes, that good set.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Excellent, Paul! I hope you enjoy the music. Hartmann's music is the ultimate in 'Expressionistic ecstasy'. :)

Just placed an order with Presto Classical for the following:

Well, just as I was feeling good about whittling down my pile... the mailman showed up.

Haydn: Symphonies 6-8 - Goodman
Bach: St. Matthew Passion - Harnoncourt 2000

[asin]B000050KFT[/asin]

I've already listened to the Haydn due to a strange discoloration. Luckily it didn't seem to affect playback.

I didn't know Sony had some Dutilleux in their catalogue. Are those (at least some, maybe) the same performances as the Arte Nova discs (Graf?).

Yep, these are just reissues of the Graf series from Arte Nova. The reason I bought this set, besides not owning any of Graf's Dutilleux and the price being a steal ($13), you cannot find the Orchestral Works I recording anywhere as it's OOP. But what's even stranger is Arte Nova still has the second and third volume in-print (???). Yeah, I don't get it. Anyway, looking forward to these performances as I've heard nothing but great things about Graf. I've owned the Tortelier set for years, so it will be nice to hear other performances of these masterpieces.

Thanks for the clarification. It goes into the wish-list, then. :)

Was this a bronzed disc? You should definitely read this:

Ordered this set today:

Very nice. I am playing through this set at the moment. Brings lots of memories from the late 70s when these recordings appeared as part of EMIs luxurious Reflexe-series. I have always liked Thomas Binkley and Studio der frühen Musiks approch to this period.

And few early music singers beat Andrea von Ramm.

Despite the agony, that Languedoc troubadour disc is great fun  :D

I heard The Swan of Tuonela for the first time Sunday night, and didn't have a copy (my Sibelius is by Ashkenazy on Decca, and apparently he never recorded it for that label), so I bought this one:

Thanks for the link. My disc does have the gold tint (though the inner ring doesn't identify the manufacturer) but the discolorations are dark gray smudges (visible on both sides) near the center. Doesn't seem like the same visual symptom, and I couldn't hear any problems. I'm going to triple-check it this afternoon on a different player.

But with that issue in mind I'm going to rip all my Hyperion discs to flac ASAP, just in case.

Just bought:

Bought this for the Requiem which I heard early this morning via Spotify and was completely blown away by it. Right up there with Faust Cantata. I already own this performance of the wonderful Symphony No. 4 in the symphony set on BIS.
