Inspired by the opera thread, I gave the go to this one:

I worship Boskovsky's Strauss, and I love Rothenberger to pieces. This will join the two Karajan, the Böhm and the Harnoncourt versions on my shelves.

Which Karajans do you have? I have two, also, and one I love & adore (RCA) and the other I HATE (Decca).
But there is, of course, the presumably most famous one (EMI), which I don't have.

The two Karajans I have are the EMI with Schwarzkopf and the Decca with Gueden, complete with the « gala » sequence, which I always skip.

The » gala « sequence is also what I dislike most about that recording. But even the rest hasn't nearly the charm of the live recording on RCA.

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.
