I don't know much about this cycle as I tend to listen to live ones from Bayreuth as much as I can. Is this a studio recording?

Ah right, the only studio recording I really know is the Solti (but even then I prefer his live recordings)

^When you receive it, let me know what the warning on the back of that Yukie Nagai Ravel CD is. I'm really curious now.  ???

The warning concerns the dynamics of the piano as recorded by the engineers, "this recording retains the staggering dynamics of the ORIGINAL performance. This may damage your loudspeakers, but given first-rate playback equipment you are guaranteed a truly remarkable musical and audio experience.  Good luck!".

It doesn't mean anything. BIS used to put this on many of their older recordings.

Wow. Kinda ruins the album artwork, no? I wonder if anyone sued them over their broken speakers to prompt them slapping that label on there.  ;D

Just ordered these three CDs for $12 from one of my go-to Ebay sellers.

The Poulenc Roge disc is one of 5 that come in a box (which you can probably find for not terribly much)

EDIT: Or, if you like that one, you can probably manage to pick up the others. There are 3 of solo piano, 1 of 2-piano/piano duet works, and 1 of chamber music.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

I took advantage of the Chandos special offer of 30% off recordings of British music and bought the Alwyn symphonies I didn't have - Nos 1,2 & 4 as lossless downloads (Hickox/LSO)

Great disc, love all three symphonies very much; immaculate performances too.
... music is not only an 'entertainment', nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

Nice book IIRC, American of course, but highly stimulating if you happen to be sensitive to good music too.  8)
