I really should get that Miaskovsky set myself.

A couple of days ago but sadly not from the famous Hannu at Fuga in Helsinki:

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

One of the problems I had with the older directors of the American Service Bands (Marine, Air Force, Army, Navy, etc.) is that they rarely programed original works for band.  This has changed over the last twenty years particularly with the Air Force and Marine Bands.

The following is an example of the programming of Colonel John Bourgois of the Marine Band (after he retired Timothy Foley became the director and started programing more original works for band including some commissions.)

There are some interesting works on this CD, but with the exception of the Sousa With Pleasure (Dance Hilarious) and the Gimenez El Baile de Luis Alonso every work on the CD is a transcription.

Excellent notes, BTW.  One reason I regret selling these when I got the 16 CD Sanderling box.

Came across Josef Rheinberger in a charity shop (CD not the man :)). Not heard of him which is enough reason to purchase.

Any thoughts?

Have listened only to his chamber music and loved it. I guess the piano music should be as good.

Salmenhaara arrived, though still not the Suomi Finland, grumpfff.
Hannu a friendly male from Finland did what he promised. Took me 5 minutes to get the parcel open, the Fins do not do things by half it seems.

I have quite a large collection of Rheinberger's music, so I say good buy! :)

Preordered a physical media copy for $50.  Looking for a physical media copy of Minsoo Sohn's cycle, too, otherwise I will have to plop down a hundred bucks for the download, which I will happily do if I must.  Also hunting for Danny Boy 4.
