These are all the special editions that come with a blu-ray audio disc.

And one more for good measure:

A special note: I'll definitely be acquiring more Puccini, but I'm not a fan of Verdi. I heard his Macbeth several years ago and I just couldn't get into his style.

You definitely were bitten by the opera bug, weren't you?  :D

All of those are terrific operas. I Pagliacci is still unknown to me, though.

I've only heard the famous Turandot recording that includes Mehta, Pavarotti, Caballé et al and the LPO. An incredibly glorious work, cast, recording and performance.
The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.

Indeed! I definitely want to get that Mehta recording, but also some other Puccini operas like La Boheme for example. You definitely should hear Pagliacci, it is excellent. I heard this Karajan recording years ago, but I never got around to buying it until now.

In addition to Salome, I own Böhm's recordings of Elektra, Daphne, Capriccio and Die Frau ohne Schatten. I didn't get his Der Rosenkavalier or Ariadne auf Naxos for example due to the questionable fidelity of these recordings. If anyone owns these two recordings, what do you think of them?

I don't think Gwyneth Jones is a succes in the lead role. I opted for for this instead:

Ariadne auf Naxos (Della Casa/Güden/Seefried/Schock/Schöffler) is a very good performance. Sound is what you could expect of an average live recording from the mid '50s.

Well, Macbeth is one of his earlier works. His later style is quite different.
If Macbeth is your only exposure to Verdi's operas, I'd suggest to listen to Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra, Otello and Falstaff (possibly my favorites among his operas) before saying the final word.

If this one doesn't arrive, chalk it up to destiny and forget about the composer. :D

Orbital spheres and cosmic forces are conspiring together to make sure I don't hear the music of Arthur Sullivan?!?

And yet every Wednesday, the universe deigns I hear my kids loudly proclaim it is "Hump Day" in the voice of an advertisement Dromedary?

Harry

I ordered some CD'S at JPC.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

And this one too, and I am not sure if I posted the Wordsworth so sorry if I did that double

Good to know ! Today I listened twice to Juon's 3rd violin sonata (w. piano) and really liked it - original and distinctive. He was dubbed 'the Russian Brahms', whatever that's supposed to mean (probably nothing).

Nothing at all, as the label was also applied to Taneyev, Glazunov and Nikolai Medtner.  :)

Imo, there is no Russian Brahms, just as there is no German Tchaikovsky.  ;D

Juon's chamber music is quite fine in its own terms.

I've been collecting the Böhm series that feature those types of album covers (reissues from 1994 which marked the 100th Anniversary of Strauss' passing). Fidelity is important to me unless we're talking about Soviet Era recordings. :P

;D I bought these via Amazon Prime, so it's too late to cancel. ;) But, seriously, I'm looking forward to hearing these operas.

Please, keep us informed about your thoughts on them. I for one am very curious.
