Greg!!! Long-time, no see! I hope you've doing well, my friend. Miss seeing you on here. Oh, all of those Debussy Harmonia Mundi recordings are superb. I bought them as they were coming out.

Hi, John. Great to hear from you, buddy! It's been October since I last posted, but will be online more often now, and have plenty of new purchases and new music to discuss here.
I do remember you speaking highly of the HM/Debussy series, I look forward to diving into them soon. Thanks!

Great to read. Sounds fantastic and I look forward to conversing more with you about Strauss, especially since I know you're a fellow Straussian.

Yep, I saw the "top-5 Strauss" thread is alive and well, had fun reading through that one!

Indeed. Have you posted your list? If not, I'd love for you to contribute if you feel so inclined. :)

Bought earlier this morning:

The Bohm recording I bought ended up being a fake, so I returned it and used the refunded money to buy this Leinsdorf set.

André - I have been enjoying the work of Jan Latham-Koenig as accompanist on two excellent albums of the Poulenc keyboard concertos with Mark Bebbington playing piano. (Including the piano version of Concert champetre.) Bebbington is a terrific Poulenc pianist in addition to being an interesting explorer of unusual 20th century repertoire, but JLK keeps up with him every step.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Europadisc is having a great 40% off sale this weekend. It includes Harmonia Mundi, LSO Live, Mariinsky.

Thank you very much!  :) I took the opportunity:

Good, Brian. I might have a disc of him conducting (Marco Polo?) but nothing in the core repertoire. He'll be up against some mighty competition in the Franck symphony !  ;)

I have the entire boxset of Zinman's Strauss, and think highly of it.

I also have the Zinman box set and while it's certainly more than competently performed throughout, I'd have a difficult time recommending it since I find it a bit bland and uninspired. I forget which work suffered the most, but it probably was Symphonia Domestica (one of my favorites from Strauss) and thought the whole thing was plodding and uninvolved. I generally like Zinman's conducting, but he's not someone I'd want to hear in Strauss again, especially when the composer has been so well-served elsewhere.

Download from Qobuz.

Mainly for the Troilus & Cressida symphonic suite arranged by Christopher Palmer, but Thomson's Symphony No. 2 may be interesting as well.  I don't think I recall it ever being mentioned.
