I just received a box of used CDs that I bought on Discogs for less than $2 each. The first has great artwork! I'm curious about all of the music.

I only know the Villa Lobos and Arnold CDs, but I like them a lot. In fact, I think the Penny recordings are the best Arnold cycle available, so I suggest keeping an eye out for the other installments.

Andre sang its praises so I got it too but haven't listened yet.

How did you sell the rest off?

On Discogs, sold 348 so far even though I've restricted it to UK buyers only, and people have even bought some 20th century classical and electroacoustic!

Very nice with the Campoli CDs. He was an interesting and excellent violinist. I don't  own much with him, but if I see some good offers, I'll be getting more ...

It's not that common CD material, and as CDs they might become expensive rarities! I'll mostly be looking for the Membran box, I think. Right now, I've got the Bliss Concerto on LP, plus a bit more.

I'm betting that's an excellent disc! I've enjoyed everything I've heard by Ehnes so far.

TD: I've been waiting until this one actually landed to post it here. But ordered from JPC three weeks ago (and received today), the second coming of the Szell Box: ;D

I can't wait to dig in! I didn't think I'd ever get a chance to own it... but here it is. Now RCA just has to reissue the Fritz Reiner Box! ;D
So much great music, so little time...

I think you misunderstood me or rather I wasn't explicit at all. What I meant is that I can let you have those volumes in FLAC.  :D (The offer still stands.)

I wasn't quite sure what format you had. But thanks. I'm sticking to CDs and LPs however. Started some downloading and ripping quite a few years ago, but stopped, I find the old media more easy to organize.

The Szell box is wall to wall gold, congrats!! So glad you got a copy. There are only two or three discs in there I would rate less than a 9/10. One thing they left out you should find is his "final concert" live in Tokyo double album featuring Sibelius 2.

And I agree entirely that they should reissue Reiner next. I missed that one too!

Oops, I did it again.

BIS and Chandos were 25% off at Europadisc this weekend. (Hyperion was too, but my wishlist is temporarily Hyperion-free.)

I have the Wiren discs on CPO but surprisingly not the popular Serenade, which of course I know well from streaming.

The ratio of good and great to merely mediocre (I don't think Szell made many truly bad recordings) in the Szell box is very high! I've heard of that final concert album and the white-hot Sibelius 2, but it seems to be elusive. Did Sony/Columbia record that, and if they did, why wasn't it included in the box?

And yes, I can think of *many* boxes that I'd like to see reissued! For starters, on RCA, of course, the Reiner box... on Sony, the Salonen and first Boulez boxes... on Warner/Erato, the Cluytens box and the Charles Groves British Music box... I could go on! ;D

Nice haul, Brian! The two discs of wind music look especially intriguing.
