This will be my second recording of this work (the other being with Danny Driver on Hyperion). I also own the Aimard, but he only recorded the first and second books.

I don't know much about the artistry of Yvonne Lefébure. I've read some very flattering comments, and actually had the 24 CD anthology of her recordings on the Solstice label in my hands some years ago at La Boîte à Musiques in Brussels (most of the repertoire it included interested me), but decided to pass —and now it's very much OOP.

Saw this single disc offered at a very affordable price by an Amazon MP seller, and decided to see how Mme. Lefébure's Debussy is. It also has three of Maurice Emmanuel's Sonatines, and there's not that many recordings of that music available.

Also ordered this obscure Italian release of piano duo music by some composers I rate highly. The transcription of Ravel's Introduction et allegro is by the composer himself, while from what I've been able to check, the Valses nobles et sentimentales are by another hand.

First purchase in three months. Since I switched to Qobuz streaming and started a new job which offers fully flexible work hours from home/office, I haven't felt a need to add anything to my collection. But no streaming service includes Hyperion, Europadisc has Hyperion on sale this week, and (like everyone else) I have been so enchanted by Stephen Hough's Chopin nocturnes and Brahms Opp. 116-119 that I decided to go get some more of his highly acclaimed Houghing and poughing.

Hough Stough

(with gratitude to amw for recommending the Hummel)

Enough Hough, Other Stough

(with gratitude to JBS on the Ries)

With shipping of $2.20/disc, the price is still less than $12.50 a pop for new Hyperion discs, $9.50 for the Helios album.

Brian

"Oops," added this too after an Amazon MP seller (MovieMars) dropped the price from $75 to $45, which averages $2 a disc.

Hat-tip to Dave (Sonic Man) for the Strauss. I knew of this recording, but I've been meaning to get around to buying it. Tasmin Little in the early Violin Concerto is making my mouth drool a bit. She's such an incredible musician who always brings a unique perspective to the music she performs.

+1 John - sure that you'll like the Strauss - now, I have all off those Hindemith clarinet works (some duplicated) but on multiple discs - would be nice to have them together - will try to find some reviews and checked Spotify, available there for a listen.  Dave :)

Yeah, the Hindemith disc looked quite enticing, so I just decided to go for it. I haven't listened to any audio samples.

I have only listened to the first three symphonies so far but I have really enjoyed the performances so far.
I am sure that you will too when you eventually receive the set.

I found the recording of the 6th from that set to be memorable. I've not listened to all of it yet.

It was the first recording from this set.Bernstein is not my cup of tea,I wonder if the opposite  approach, less is more,is an Ideal one.
Generally speaking, I am an admirer of Boulez, both his compositions and his creditable recordings.

Hey, Jan, I've been listening to Boulez's Mahler lately too. I don't have the full set—maybe it was you who pulled the trigger on the very affordable set on Ebay that I was looking at the other day ;D—but I do have his 5th, 6th and 7th on individual discs and they are all very good.

That is good to hear,I think that tomorrow late in the afternoon the set will be delivered.I start with the first symphony and further in chronologically order. :)
