The new erato

I ordered this from mdt:

along with the Belonging disc on ECM (Stensson/Christensen/Garbarek).

The new erato

Vivace Classical had a 50% discount on this series, so I ordered these two:

They also had this one real cheap (around £ 5):

Arrived this morning: Bakels Kalinnikov.

*phew*

Extremely good postage rates, though. (And let's hope Marvin doesn't notice the price they have on the Verdi box. ;D)

My Dad found this set via Amazon and asked me if I owned it, I said "No" and so he bought it for me:

Nothing wrong with more Honegger. He's a favorite of mine.

Edit: This makes my fourth complete cycle of Honegger's symphonies. The other ones being Luisi, Dutoit, and Baudo.

Well, I did. Mamma mia! Those are some kick-ass recordings. I might take the splunge*.

£4 from Amazon UK, thanks to Daniel for pointing this out (naturally only after first ordering one for himself ;) )

Thanks Daniel and Karlo for the heads-up on this. Ordered one as well as I think I only have his Capriccio, nothing else...  :)

According to amazon UK, mine will  be sent on the 2nd of April, and then they will make their way snaillike through the Norwegian mail (in general they're not that bad, but packages from abroad seemingly will need to be inspected in all ends to make sure they don't qualify for some kind of tax).

A cosmic right-ness with an album called The Soviet Experience, eh?

If the Soviets were content with taxation, I think they could have held out for somewhat longer.

Thanks Daniel and Karlo for the heads-up on this.

And thanks from me also (it appears that it may take them up to a month to deliver). And I added a box of Haydn's Wind Divertimenti to the basket as well.

Glad to see so many seizing the Rismky oppurtunity! :D

And ooh, that's one I would love to get. Her performance of the Elgar with the BPO which is on the Digital Concert Hall and was televized once was outstanding. :)

cheap at amazon uk today £7.87 ...
cant say I get the Carter (think that will take a lot of listens...) but the Elgar and Bruch are right up my street.
The Kol Nidrei was a nice surprise as its not listed on the front!

..is this the performance you meant?

Thanks Gurn!

I am very satisfied with this version.  Have listened to it twice now and am very happy with the overall performance.

It really came down to 2 options: this Herreweghe vs. The American Bach Soloists version - I opted for the former and couldn't be more pleased.

Some of your (and others) thoughts in the LVB Symphony #9 thread helped me in my process, Gurn.  Many thanks.

You are most welcome. It was your name that first attracted my attention; anything to help achieve fulfillment on that front. :)

I just don't see this being any temptation for our Gurn, though . . . .

; )

Aye, no worries there. My attention span is scarcely greater than 64 minutes; Bruckner hasn't even reached for his second wind at that point.  :D
