This one for my Shostakovich collection:

The new erato

I ordered this latest release in the Vivaldi opera series from presto, just to keep my collecting house in order:

Just bought:

Typically quite fond of Noseda's conducting so I'll be interested how he handles the mournful outpourings and bittersweet nostalgia of Rachmaninov's orchestral works. :)

Nice! Please, share your thoughts about these works once you've listened to them! :)

Ah, what the hell, I placed my first order with Amazon Japan, and like with all other Amazons I've bought from, the service is fast.  The item shipped same day, so hopefully cycle #76 shows up next week.

I noticed that Amazon Japan has some type of arrangement with Lawson allowing purchases to be picked up at Lawson outlets in Japan.  Lawson also owns HMV Japan.  I wonder what, if anything, the arrival of Amazon in Japan means for HMV Japan.

Amazon Japan has been there for years (it didn't just arrive there).  HMV Japan was on a downhill slide even before the advent of online buying.  Their stores are all but gone and Lawson really  wasn't affected by Amazon being there.

Interesting, I didn't know that.  I knew HMV Japan was in a weak(-ish) position, especially after Lawson bought it.  As long as I can buy stuff from Japan, that's all that matters.

Ordered this today! Judging by the dearth of websites about operetta (apart from one or two rather dreary, bare boned examples) this one will arouse an avalanche of enthusiasm! ;D
Unless I'm mistaken, the 'complete' Stolz recording has only been reissued on cd as highlights;so I bought this one.

The Cantus-lin cds of operettas broadcast on German radio in the fifties are excellent, unless you are averse to mono. The sound quality is very good for the time. No librettos though;but it doesn't bother me! Some of their operettas are unavailable elsewhere. Nico Dostal's Clivia is particularly well performed and proves that there was allot more to Silver age operetta than Kalman and Lehar!
Goetze's Adrienne and Paul Abraham's kitsch jazz operetta Viktoria und ihr Husar are great fun too. (Forget the lousy Eurodisc highlights of the latter). And then there's Fred Raymond's Maske in Blau and the operettas of Leo Fall which are currently enjoying a renaissance on cd, and who was, imho, much closer to the true spirit of operetta and less sentimental than Lehar with his gloomy endings! :( Although,I do like Die Lustige Witwe in the recent and long overdue reissue of Wallberg's emi recording. Edda Moser,so much sexier than that battle axe Schwarzkopf,in the ridiculously overrated Matacic recording. Well, the other people are fine,I just can't stand her!!

But each to his own!! :)

And I mustn't forget Oscar Straus!

It's been discussed on the New Releases thread.
Here's the Presto listing, especially apropos for supporters of Leamington FC.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

I took one look at this cover, and decided it was in my best interest to not piss off Mr. Harnoncourt. Ordered.
