Found this in my mail today :

I did not even remember I had ordered this (classic and brilliant) interpretation. It's like a surprise I did to myself and I love it ! Thank me !

Hmmm, doesn't that look interesting! I may need to treat myself to something too, since it is going around now... :D

+1

I have listened to that recording several times the last couple of months and it has been a delight every time. Enjoy!
Btw it can also be found in the Harmonia Mundi Baroque bundle:

I can also recommend its "sister" recording:  :)

The bundle is nice if you can get it cheap (not sure I'd pay $50); I remember everything in there as very good, except for McGegan's Water Musick where more engaging recordings can be find easily.

I'm not a fan of these HM boxes with their mix of whatever they found on the shelf in the morning :(
Plus I have most of all that in separate CDs anyway, already.

The new erato

Ordered these off europadisc:

Let me know what you think of this one, erato. It's been hovering under my radar since it's release.

Cosi bel do

Heard Skride and Petrenko in concert in the first concerto a month ago (with the Philharmonique de Radio France). Superb performance and the CD is on my shopping list for sure. I'll be interested to read your impressions too, erato !

According to several reviews I've seen, it wipes the floor with the competition.

I really enjoyed the music in the film and am looking forward to listening to it at home.
Wise words from Que:

Never waste a good reason for a purchase....  ;)

A curious purchase, Ken. Not because it's you diving into Hartmann, but because you went with Metzmacher as your first cycle (although Symphonies 7 & 8 have to bought separately in these reissues) and not the Wergo or new Challenge Classics set.

Hey, Ingo was my first set, too  8)

Ah, but have you heard the Wergo set, Karl or any of Kubelik's Hartmann performances? I think you will find these performances quite satisfactory. :)

Astounding imagery...

I should have listened to (watched rather) this on Halloween!

Before I saw the title on the cover (or your post) I swear I thought this was Wozzeck and not remotely Wagner.
