Reminded by a post by HIPster in the Listening thread that I had never gotten around to getting this, so I rectified the matter.

The best Rouse recording I've heard. I'm not a huge fan of this composer, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one I must say.

Thanks for this. I'll keep an eye on this disc. I know I have this one:

Quite good if memory serves, but I haven't listened to it in a few years. I might have something else also (one of these multiple composers discs you never know where to file), I'll have to check.

I will say Rouse's Flute Concerto is excellent, but I prefer Sharon Bezaly's performance on BIS (w/ Gilbert conducting).

Indeed...I own (and very much enjoy) R. Casadesus's Ravel and Debussy, as well as his Emperor concerto under Rosbaud (that I was listening to yesterday), so thought I would expand my exposure to his recorded output (the Mozart in particular receives accolades almost universally)... :)

Just bought for 47¢ + shipping:

I bought this for Dover Beach as I don't own a recording of it, but it'll be nice to have the Serenade and String Quartet as well. And for 47¢, I'm certainly not going to complain. :)

Just bought:

Hopefully, this will be my last purchase for quite some time as The Tender Land is an opera I've had my eyes on for years and felt it to be a hole in my Copland collection since I'm really admirer of the orchestral suite from it.
