@Que I really like that Giulia Nuti disc! And if memory doesn't play any tricks, the "Young Vivaldi" one is mighty good, too!

I've never been too much impressed by his symphonies, but I've read very good things on his piano concertos.
I'm more familiar with his chamber music, in particular with his amazing string quartets. Have you ever heard them?
Unfortunately they are quite neglected by the record labels and seldom programmed in the concert seasons, but they really deserve much more attention...

And here is my jpc order with GioCar's help for some of it.

I must admit that JPC's prices were below Amazon MP even before the VAT deduction and the coupon.

I hope you enjoy the Milhaud more than I did, Jeffrey. I like that Malipiero set a lot.

You aren't the only one who didn't particularly care for the Milhaud.  But it's been on my wishlist for a  long time, and I'm only paying 20€ so I won't need to cry much if I don't like it.

That's nothing to cry about for sure. Who knows, you may like it? It's interesting how tastes change as we get older. I initially liked the Milhaud symphonies, but with more listening, and a rather long passage of time since I had last heard them, upon revisitation my opinion seemed to have changed for the worse.

Being a huge Copland fan, I couldn't let these slip past me any longer:

Of particular interest is the ballet Hear Ye! Hear Ye!, which I'll have to read up on, but it's apparently about a court trial (?). Utterly fascinating, not because of the story itself, but because only Copland would compose something like this.

JPC's prices on their home label (CPO) are often unbeatable.

I got those two sets not too long ago (also form jpc). As opposed to other GMGers, I am finding quite a bit to enjoy in the Milhaud symphonies (of which I previously only knew a handful).

Do let us know you impressions, Jeffrey, once you've explored these works.
