Hah! :D Yeah, there's several recordings with Ollila conducting on Ondine that I'd like to get at some point, but it's not a pressing issue at the moment. :)

Yes, given your collection, I would not think so. Good for you and continued listening enjoyment.

That is a gerat recording, marvin. IMHO, Böhm's greatest Wagner on record (and I'm not forgetting the DG Tristan or the Philips Ring). Enjoy!  :)

  Thank you ritter  8)

I didn't really need this, but for 13$ I thought I should make an exception.

Did you buy the download or a CD. If a download, can you tell me the quality, the bit rate, of the mp3?

Just bought:

I wanted the first Colin Davis cycle in better audio quality (this set has been remastered) plus it contains some works that the original Philips 2-CD sets did not and as for the Horst Stein Sibelius recordings, I've read nothing but great things about them.

Two great sets John!

Thanks, Jeffrey. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the Horst Stein recordings, but I do still enjoy Davis' BSO cycle of Sibelius.

A comparison between the original and the remastered cycles would be a very interesting exercise. Happy listening.

Thank you, I doubt I'll get around to it anytime soon as there's so much I need to listen to and revisit.

I luckily managed to find a CD copy ,it is not easy to find  one and I'm happy to transfer it to you. There is a chance that you will have it propably sooner from one of our friends here on the forum.

Excellent! Prepare for the loudest hammer blow on record in Berg's Three Pieces for Orchestra.

Lots of Naxos discs under 2$ new, on Amazon. I was interested in these as I don't own any of this music (although I know Spem in alium).

The Tallis is one of Oxford Camerata's best ones, and one of the best SiA I know.
I remember the Lees as being less interesting than other music by him I have heard.
Not familiar with the other two recordings.

Thanks for commending the Tallis disc. It will be my first of his music ( :-[).

As for Lees, I have his Passacaglia for Orchestra and his Concerto for French Horn. Both works are excellent.

Ordered today. I simply love the interpretations and above all the sound.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.
