That looks like a good recording. Do you own the other volumes?

I have/have had all three. My opinion: the one with chamber music including piano is the best; the orchestral one is so-so, they could probably have digged out some more interesting works; the one with Mossolov piano works I culled due to very agggressive, hammering playing without nuances; a few might like it.
EDIT: so I kept the two of them.

Hmmm...thanks for the feedback, MusicTurner. Looks like I'll avoid these recordings then. (Not that I was thinking of buying them of course). :)

There's a disc of Mosolov piano music on ECM, performed by Herbert Henck, who is not at all aggressive/hammering. I eventually sold it; interesting but seemingly a bit faceless on repeated listening. A couple of "Soviet Avant-Garde" piano releases on hatology with Scheiermacher are pretty good.
I own a disc or 2 of "Russian futurist" type stuff, forget details. Will check further when I get back from work.

Cool. I might have to check out that ECM recording of Mosolov, but I'm not particularly drawn to a lot of solo piano music (with some notable exceptions of course). Thanks for the recommendation.

Yes, I have some other Mossolov, including piano works, wasn't referring to the composer's music but that particular Arte Nova recording.

Before it goes OOP. Mainly for the ballet Le loup (The Wolf), on a libretto by Jean Anouilh (who had earlier collaborated with Milhaud and Poulenc) and Georges Neveux (on whose play Juliette ou la clé des songes Martinu based his opera). Le loup  is given here complete, and also as "symphonic fragments".
I already had the 4 CD "Dutillleux 1916-2013" set on Erato, and there is some overlap, but e.g. the symphonies are presented in different recordings, so I'll keep both sets.

I just found out that the fandango from Act III of Le nozze di Figaro was "stolen" by Mozart from Gluck's ballet Don Juan. This work is also historically important, as it's one of the first storied ballets ever written.

I'm sure that you will enjoy this set. Christmas Eve is especially lovely and I also really like the Russian Easter Festival Overture.

The R.E.O. falls into my short list of works by NR-K that I know, and love. The Christmas Eve is completely new to me. I'll post some thoughts in his composer thread when the set arrives.
Thanks, vandermolen!

Looks like a nice set: https://www.discogs.com/New-York-Philharmonic-The-Mahler-Broadcasts-1948-1982/release/13734800

It also helps that I got it for a price that was too good to pass up.

Interesting. Let me know what you think of these. I have generally been quite disappointed by LSO Live's sonics no matter how great the performance is, so I can never give any of the recordings I own another listen.

Presto is having a sale on Chandos hi-res downloads: hi-res for the same price as MP3: $10 per disc.

I could have downloaded a standard res download of all the symphonies for $12.  Oh well, I'd have missed Funiculì, Funiculà (used in Italia).

Very good to read, Andre. It's been one I've had my eyes on for awhile.

Just bought:

I tried to avoid any duplication from my dad's own Khachaturian collection. I'm sure he'll want copies of all these. ;D

Also bought:

I bought this Weinberg recording as a CD quality download via eclassical. The price was certainly right. These will be completely new works to me.
