Good choice but the Naxos one may be better  0:)

(I'm partly joking but Steen-Nokleberg does interestingly divide the 100 Norwegian Melodies among four instruments, piano, clavichord, harmonium, and organ, to make the listening experience less boring. Can't say it makes me listen to that collection any more often than once per decade, however  ;D )

Funny you mentioned that Naxos set, Brian. I was actually considering it, but I kept reading reviews from different sources that rated Knardahl highly and I didn't want both of these sets at moment as I'm still new to much of this music. I'm mostly interested in the Lyric Pieces, but pretty excited to explore what other treasures may be in this part of his oeuvre.

P. S. I want to say I'm sorry for our exchange yesterday. You're right, I should've picked a better phrase and I shouldn't have been so rude to 71 dB. Also, Naxos does have some fine recordings in their catalog.

Everything is okay man. I'm not someone who holds grudge on others.  ;)
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Trying some Spohr, first recordings by this composer.  Found some used bargains...

Gaudier is the way to go. Add a few Nash Ensemble, Hoelscher, Leister, L'Archibudelli, Shelley, Villa Musica and Shelley there and you are done in Spohr. :)

One of my favorite Lyric Pieces performers... his Sommerfugl and Til Foraret are the best.

I want to read that someone deleted mine by mistake. If it was deliberate among this vulgarity I'll simply delete my account.

I'll wait around for one more day... :-\

First, Brass Hole, I hope you do not as you are nice (despite your name, hah) and it's fun having you here. Second, the moderators usually only act in response to a request or complaint, as they do not have time to read every thread every day. So if you publicly announce, "If the moderators don't reply to this post within 24 hours, I quit," well, yes, you will have to quit, because they are busy professionals and they probably have no idea you've said this. Especially since, you know, today and tomorrow are the biggest holidays of the year!

I've met some of the moderators in person and spent 14+ years here with the others. They're excellent people and they would be very happy to chat with you if you make an effort, which is to say, if you send one a PM, or maybe if you "Report" your own post and write "please reply to this" in the comment box. Of course I have no clue who deleted the posts, but Gurn and bhodges are usually around. Usually. Christmas may be different. Refusing to wait until the 26th or 27th would be uncharitable.

Thanks for your approach. That's unusually, being public, elegant.

And thanks for the effort to keep me reasonable.

Interestingly enough, Brian. I ended up cancelling the BIS and ordered this one:

One of the main reasons is I like the way Naxos recorded the piano. It sounds like it has a touch more reverb compared to the sound piano sound on the Knardahl recordings. Also, the sound on the Knardahl recordings were too wayward in the mix and I don't like that up-close type of sound.

As Brian pointed out, I'd hate to see you leave over something like this. I get posts deleted all the time and there have been occasions where they didn't really need to be deleted (i. e. the complete deletion of a thread). Anyway, stick around. We need more membership.

That's very nice of you, thank you. But I have my own reasons which are different than the obvious. By the way, I intend to make a very short list of Naxos Elgar discs that I deemed and attached "better crop" tag over the years in a bit.  :D

Thirded.

Amd also as Brian pointed out, personal and open communication with the mods can work wonders. I know it does because I've been there and done that.

I understand that you're probably against the censorship, but post deletions don't happen a lot unless there's some unfortunate negativity that goes down (i. e. my little episode from a few nights ago).

This is alos true.

Plus, let's be honest, folks: not everything we post is worth preserving for posterity, even one as small and limited as GMG's. (I think I've said it before but it's a point worth stressing.)  :D
