I'm glad there are other James Ehnes aficionados around here   :)

I discovered him about 10 years ago at a concert in France.
He had very generously played some J.S. Bach's sonatas and partitas for a small audience...
It's a wonderful memory !
I have always followed his career since then.

I've seen James Ehnes live at least four times? Barber concerto in Montreal and Kernis concerto here. He's one of the great violinists alive in my opinion.

I like Ehnes too. I've marked him as a "favourite" on Primephonic so that I can explore more of his albums. When I get around to it sometime in the next 15 years of course.
I am now working on a discography of the works of Vagn Holmboe. Please visit and also contribute!

What is Music? How do you define it? Music is a calm moonlit night, the rustle of leaves in Summer. Music is the far off peal of bells at dusk! Music comes straight from the heart and talks only to the heart: it is Love!  --- Rachmaninoff

Andrei, thank Karl.  He was the one that pointed it out to me.  There is tons of string quartet music on there that I have not heard yet, ever.  (Boccherini, Bazzini, Respighi, Malipiero).  Looking forward to receiving this!

Okay then. Thank you, Karl.

Boccherini's SQs are sheer delight, just like everything he wrote. I don't know this particular recording, though.

For many years I’ve been content to listen to this through a copy made by a friend. I was finally able to get it ‘new’ at a reasonable price. Such a wonderful work !

An indulgence to be sure, but I couldn’t resist buying this, my favourite solo violin work played by my favourite violinist !

Just bought:

Karajan is pretty much my favorite conductor of Wagner’s music. He’s been my go-to for Der Ring and Parsifal, so I’m going to assume the same will hold true for Tristan und Isolde.

Today some orders went out to JPC de & Amazon France.

From Amazon France I bought Book I and II with music from Marin Marais by L' Acheron, Book III I purchased from JPC de.

Like the previous releases in that series, the Onslow is excellent.
