Decided to pluck these off my wishlist

I've also been enjoying the Dussek fortepiano series on Brilliant - up to Vol. 9 (not sure how many more will be released, if any?) - but in grabbing that image, I saw that Brilliant has also released a 5-CD set of the unrelated František Xaver Dušek (nothing in my collection of him) - cannot find a review - comments from anyone appreciated - thanks.  Dave :)

Hey Que - now, I recognize the name František Xaver Dušek, but he obviously has been 'under my radar' for years since I own nothing by him (and in all honesty hardly anything is available on Amazon USA!) - BUT, in my previous post, I left a link which has a catalogue by VJ Sykora who lists just over 200 works by this Czech composer, labeled as S. - below are just rough counts of some works that would interest me, especially the Wind pieces - guess that he's waiting to be discovered?  At least his KB compositions have been available JUST recently.  Dave :)

28 Divertimentos

Yikes! It's fright night! :P

I love Pettersson. I love his complexity, his anguish, and his Bates Motel/Bukowski/film noire vibe. I'm absolutely certain that I don't understand him as well as I might, but I'm hooked. I've been listening to the Christian Lindberg set with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, although the CPO versions were my first introduction.

I need to pick them up again, but some of the English symphonies have somewhat distracted me in recent weeks. Thanks for the reminder 🙂

I love Pettersson, too  :).

I have some of these performances/works on downloads (copied to cdr). Now I'll have them on real CDs, as it should be. If I'm not mistaken, I'm missing only no 4.

That a fine disc Jeffrey!
Great to know Harry. I look forward to receiving it.

I received a 10% discount voucher from jpc, and decided to use it. Good thing they sent that coupon, given what a hassle it was to place the order. I had read here on GMG how jpc, with whom I had dealt seamlessly for many years, was having problems, and can confirm that all that's been said is true. It's unbelievable they cannot sort these things out after several month! (NB.: I had to pay using PayPal, as credit card was an impossible endeavour).

Be that as it may, I better prepare myself for a Hindemith marathon this summer: 15 CDs of his orchestral music!

(These sets are much cheaper at jpc than elsewhere--CPO is the "house label", so to say--and they seem to be going OOP anyway).

Also in the order is this recording, which I got for Florent Schmitt's String Trio, op. 105 (the arrangement for string trio of Milhaud's La muse menagère appears like an oddity to me, but might have its charm).

Outstanding! I love Hindemith and he's a composer I've found myself enjoying more and more. I spent a good portion of last year while in lockdown listening to his music and exploring his oeuvre (which is quite considerable). I do find it a bit curious you'd take this kind of plunge given that your opinion on the composer wasn't an enthusiastic one.

Turns out that resistance was futile: I've now pulled the trigger on this (actually, I was not resisting all that doggedly)

That's a fine Purchase Karl, you will enjoy it immensely, I know I did.!
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

After the high praise Suitner's Dvořák received from various members here, I decided it was time I take the plunge, but instead of buying the box set, I opted for these Japanese reissues. Plus, I think the box sets don't contain the bonus couplings you get with some of these individual recordings like Carnival et. al.

This is my first recording and will be my first-time hearing Smetana's The Bartered Bride. I'm looking forward to it. Choosing a recording wasn't easy as there were two on Supraphon that caught my attention, but the Bělohlávek won simply for the exquisite cover art from Mucha, but also the audio samples sounded quite good.

Speaking of Suitner, this is, I hope, Suitner's Bruckner 8

Order placed with an Amazon seller for $17.50 total.  I looked at the Japanese issue on hmv.co.jp, but it would cost over 20 bucks just for shipping.

Suitner is a great conductor. He didn't record all that many Bruckner symphonies. 2 and 3 in Japan, and 4, 5, 7, 8 in Berlin (Staatskapelle). I haven't heard the japanese performances, but own the others. In short: 4 and 5 are terrific, 7 is excellent and 8 very good (only). They should be heard as a complement of other great east-german conductors' performances like Rögner, Konwitschny and Kegel. They do share a seriousness of purpose and directness of utterance all their own. Recommended.

I've been in the market for another recording of Preludes & Fugues and Karlo (North Star) recommended the Ashkenazy to me. I did a broad sampling of this performance and I concur --- it's excellent. The other recording (also with Ashkenazy at the piano) was a no-brainer as it was recorded with the Fitzwilliam Quartet, but also has Söderström in the Seven Romances.
